While we were waiting for a table at Tokyo Tina, my boyfriend and I decided to get some cocktails at The Social. The cocktails are a great price if you are there for their 2 for 1 deal. Don’t get confused like we did though – when we ordered we asked if the 2 for 1 deal was only valid if we ordered the same type of cocktail, the waitress said yes. So we thought that for us to get a free cocktail we would have to get the same drink – we both like different types of drinks so we knew that wouldn’t work for us so we ordered 1 drink each. Imagine our surprise when four drinks were brought to us! Turns out as long as you ordered a drink you got a second one for free.
The drinks were really nice though. I ordered the White Chocolate and Passionfruit Martini. The white chocolate on top went really well with the tartness of the passionfruit. I’ll definitely be back to try the Apple Pie Sour.
Good Venue. I went to the Social Bar for a 30th birthday on saturday night and had a fantastic time. Great venue for functions. Good atmosphere. Finger food was very nice, staff are very friendly and the DJ plays some great tunes.
Everyone had a great time and will definitely be looking to make it back there very soon.
The social has its place in melbourne’s nightlife however I was very disappointed to find out their drink prices increase after 10pm
Just a fancy pub. This venue set up is fine, nothing special, but fine. It gets pretty busy on the weekends and if you enjoy pop dance music this is the spot for you. I dont see the point of them having a kitchen; they should probably just get rid of it and expand the dance area. Food is average and expensive.
The bar service at this venue is odd; the girls who do the bar are confident and seem to be having fun, which is great, however for a self-portrayed ‘upscale’ bar these bar tenders are not very skilled. It looks like they have been trained in a pub and have little cocktail knowledge. They are, however, quite friendly.
Great mini meals that always come with an alcoholic beverage be it a glass of wine or pot. Relaxing place to hang out and enjoy a nostalgic conversation with old friends
Went tonight, Tuesday. We tried the special – $5 for a pot of Carlton Draught & a mini burger. Great value and surprisingly filling. But we still had another one :). Fuss free easy feed, we will be back.
Great value specials. Good chef – special nights are brilliant value. This is a bar that gets going later at night. The menu has good value light meals (not huge quantity for those off the main menu -but for $10 each can’t complain). The specials board is better value – a bit more expensive but bigger servings and food is fantastic.
