Went here just for a snack. Had the pork belly bao. I am not really into it. I expected that the pork to be soft and tender, maybe sticky with thick sauce or something. But it came a bit tough and dry.

The bun was soft and pleasant with the mayo, but they were too small to acomodate the slab of thick pork like that.

Two condiments of gochujang like style and teriyaki sauce were good when eaten together with the pork and bun.

After always wandering past this place on chapel, often mistaking for dingy old office we ventured in after all the talk in town. On a cold Sunday afternoon heading into evening we couldnt help but take the opportunity of it being quiet… quieter than usual. Everything we ordered can out super quick, even when the restaurant began to fill, the staff remained composed. The feel of the place is warm and inviting and much bigger than first anticipated. It was very hard to fault any of the food tasted that evening but was a little disappointed in the yuzu doughnuts for dessert, however the choc pudding made up for it. Will definitely be back! Although this leads us to trying more of the unsuspecting establishments on chapel. Although Tokyo Tina already has quite the name and presence!

Popped in for dinner for 3 on a Thursday night and the place was bustling and full. Luckily a table cleared as we entered. However before being seated, we were left just standing at the front counter a good 10-15 minutes while two waitresses finished a conversation, and they let another table pay their bill despite the fact wed been waiting for a while by the time they came up to pay. Aside from this, we found our designated waitress helpful and attentive, and our service the rest of the night was good.
The restaurant is a medium-sized space with a nice bar to one side and Japanese anime/arcade game decorations throughout the venue. The tables, chairs and a long comfy bench are all well laid out to make good use of the size of the space available; though full, the place didnt feel too cramped.
For food we ordered the chicken karaage, open california roll, DIY pork belly and beef rib baos, and the duck ssam ( = wrap in Korean).
For a restaurant called Tokyo Tina and being categorised as modern Japanese cuisine, they certainly seemed to have a lot of Korean inspired dishes and ingredients on their menu… hence why most people seem to refer to them as simply being Asian fusion.
My special mention for the night would have to go to the duck. It was beautifully cooked and flavoured; definitely one of the best dishes of duck Ive had in a long time. The rest of the food was good, but nothing amazing or as memorable. The DIY portion of the baos, duck ssam and the open california roll will amuse some, but I feel like itd be good if there was an option for them to come out made. The novelty has the potential to be worn down very thin depending on the size and type of group youre dining with, and the time you have.

Toyko Tina is a semi fusion Japanese restaurant that is situated on Chapel Street. Love the dcor inside, really cool and sets the vibe for a modern Japanese meal. I really like the carpaccio here and also the chicken ramen which my friend is addicted to

Okay portion sizes and not bad pricing

Tokyo Tina is a hidden gem, I never noticed this restaurant when passing. It doesnt look like much from the outside but the food is great. The wagyu beef skewers were delicious, I would highly recommend. Im really keen to try the ramen next time, someone else ordered it and it looked amazing. The staff are helpful and friendly.

A funky place with its out twist on the Asian cuisine, TT delivered some delicious food with a great experience. The baos very amazing and the staff were friendly and really helpful. The service was very quick and the pricing was very reasonable for the serving sizes. Will def be back again!

Came here recently with a mate and had some drinks and food, we had Avocado Bao and the spiced Edamame, there wasnt a great deal on the menu for vegetarians but what we did order was really delicious and came out fairly quick, we also had some gin and tonics which were really really good here, worth a look if its not too busy.
