What is surprising about La Maison is to find it on the causeway between Albury and Wodonga, off the so called beaten track. The other surprise is to find an eatery offering this level of refinement in Albury, the owner must have had his grounding in one of the major capital cities because this is so much more than the plethora of local diners offer.Started with the charcuterie board which OK, I know is only as good as what the chef has selected. The pate was brilliant, the cheese a bit ordinary, but the meats were brilliant. We also had the haloumi cigars which were a bit of a let down as the pastry and oregano overpowered the subtlety of the cheese. Mains, I had the  fillet steak (MR) which was perfect, accompanied by beetroot wedges and some seriously under cooked brocolini. My partner had the prawn and scallop fettuccine which she was more than happy with, could do with a tad less chilli. I don’t want to over inflate minor criticisms because the meals were lovely. Dessert, I had the lemongrass infused panna cotta which had perfect wobble, the holy grail of panna cotta making. All in all, a delightful meal which would appease the the most discerning food critic. The only fault I can find, the price is a little on the high side. Would this turn me off coming to eat here again, no. Kudos, La Maison.

My brother had his wedding reception here and the food was delightful and the place itself had such a lovely atmosphere ! Would highly recommend for a slightly fancier food experience

La Maison did not disappoint with the food- sublime pork belly- the best my husband had ever had, and pressed lamb both delivering a delicious experience. The only let down with the food was the smoky eggplant on the side of the lamb- smoky is an understatement, as it was like licking an ashtray!! Too strong, bitter and overpowering. In its defence my husband loved it!! What let our night down was the service provided by our waitress. Usually a complaint is about underwhelming service- but this lady was over the top- in your face, constantly hanging around, jumping on us every few minutes and absolutely spoiled our visit. Good service is wonderful but should never be smothering and leaving customers uncomfortable.

4.5 ⭐️ It doesn’t look like much from the outside but looks are deceiving. There was a brilliant area down the back with plenty of natural light. The food was great and priced fair. The service staff were a lot better than your usual breakfast place. If this was in Melbourne it would be packed out on weekends.
