This little country pub is simply delightful! My mother, sister and I stopped here for lunch before making the long, tiring drive back home to Melbourne. We were starving – in fact, I was so hungry I could’ve eaten a rhinoceros! It’s safe to say we were well and truly on the hunt for a hearty and filling feed, so it was very lucky that we stumbled upon the Yarragon Hotel.From the moment we entered the doorway to the moment we left the restaurant, staff at the Yarragon Hotel were friendly, helpful, approachable and kind. We were greeted with smiles and were farewelled with nostalgic waves. Honestly, I was tempted to pull out my microphone from my bag (as I’d just had a debating competition that morning) and wanted to ask everyone to give the staff a round of applause.Anyway, after browsing the menu at a leisurely pace, I decided to order a good old steak sandwich. I was very pleased I did – it was utterly delectable. The steak was cooked so nicely that my tastebuds were smiling! Served with a small basket of crispy, hot, golden, crunchy, salty chips and a fresh, light, citrusy salad, my meal was greatly satisfying and pleasing to the palette! What more can one ask for?Overall, the Yarragon Hotel is warm, cozy, cute, quaint, elegant, comfortable, charming, passionate, friendly, inviting, welcoming, clean, old-worldly and welcoming. I believe every Victorian resident should visit this hidden gem at least once in their lifetime!

Long wait for meals. Entree of herb bread and popcorn chicken was good but not good enough for the amount of time we waited. Steak in the steak sandwiches was inedible. Waitress was lovely and very apologetic.
This place never disappoints. Great staff, great food and a nice country feel.Local produce makes a difference and meals always that bit different to your standard – my chicken Parma was fat and juicy and served with mash and slaw.Wife’s Salmon was just divine. Highly recommend.
