I’m not sure where the golden plate comes from but pork belly cold and chewy and had to be reheated. Pasta of day cream not reduced was just a watery mess. Tasteless. No music on. Zero atmosphere. Backpacker staff looking depressed. Salad all wilted. Very expensive waste of money
We Stopped here for a lunch around 2pm. Although the lunchtime menu had finished the staff still provided lunch which was great. We ordered the fish burgers with chips and salad. Service was very good with water being brought out straight away and the food arrived about 25 minutes later which is normal for any restaurant service. The burgers were fantastic as were the chips and the salad was fresh! The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed. Definitely worth a visit.
Not worth the wait. Food took more than an hour to arrive! And when it did there was no apology from the woman who delivered it. We were booked for 7pm (told to come then as they had large tables booked for 6.30) and arrived on time with two children. We ordered straight away and then sat there for 50mins with nothing. We watched food be served to all the other tables around us and realised we would most likely be last since we arrived after all the other customers. The waitress was clearly embarrassed and avoided eye contact so my husband went to the counter at 8pm to ask if the children could have their food at least. They were starving! She apologised for the wait but there was little she could do. The children were hungry and bored when the food finally arrived at 8.15pm! The BLT and chicken nuggets (oven style NOT handmade) they ordered both came with chips and both would take less than 20mins to make so why not send the kids food out first?? It’s entirely inappropriate to ask children to wait more than an hour for food especially with no bread or entree offered. If we had been informed of the long wait we would have sent the kids back to our nearby chalet for snacks, but communication was rubbish! Our food came out shortly after. Mine was the salmon special and tasted fine although I had to eat quickly because it wasn’t hot!! Hubby’s curry was ok he said. All meals we could make at home in far less time. It’s obvious they are not prepared for more than two tables at a time and that the person running the kitchen is not experienced enough to cook for more than one table at a time. We were going to try breakfast on our last day but have decided it would be quicker to drive to Fredericks in Albany or Mrs Jones in Denmark.
Rude and slow service. After waiting more than 30 minutes for our coffee watching the older lady that works their clearly serve other people (possibly locals) before us even though we had ordered first, we asked for our money back. We got no apology or even acknowledgement. Granted we looked a bit rough because we had been camping but felt so unwelcome. This place has such potential if that lady was not there making everyone feel uncomfortable.
