Best name for a cafe 😉 Lovely coffee, lovely staff, lovely cafe. But they must find it difficult to offer a point of difference. It’s not much of a detour off Canning Hwy for those of us doing the west-east commute and it’d be great to have a real good reason to do so. Special packed lunches to go? Pre-ordering for coffees? Donuts from The Banker (mmmm!) or delights from Little Sweet? Real banh mi rolls? Just some ideas. Hmmm…
This tiny cafe tucked away behind a bunch of offices in apple cross was one of those finds that you just want to rant and rave about to anybody that would listen. The staff were nice and friendly from the moment that you step through the door and they seemed to know the names of everybody that came in for coffee. The coffee is roasted but blacklist, a local roaster who also supply sprolo, one of my favourite cafes, and using a La Marzocco Linea Classic, the coffee is really something. But it’s not just the coffee that’s great, the food looks absolutely delicious. All the food in the displays is made in house and that home made feel makes it taste so great. The breakfast menu is small but all the food sounds so good. I had the brioche bun with bacon, egg, cheese and hp sauce. It was really nice and the flavours worked really well together. Overall I’ll definitely be back soon to try more of the delicious treats in the cabinets and to try more of the wonderful coffee.
First time here. The food was excellent! Environment is friendly and clean. The atmosphere feels welcoming. RECOMMENDED.
Nicest Cafe in Applecross. Want friendly baristas? Check. Want healthy, homemade food? Check. Want a business owner that dotes on you and makes sure that you’re happy and well fed? Double check. When I go to Penny’s I feel like I’m at home with my family. I’m greeted enthusiastically by the baristas, everybody took the time to learn my name after I came back a second time and if I want to talk to someone or have a meal request (within the bounds of their menu, of course) they’re more than happy to go out of their way! While I’ve found most cafes in the area are a bit snobby because of the wealthy neighbourhood, Penny’s is honest and unassuming. It’s hidden away, so you don’t hear all the noisy traffic, and everybody’s lovely sense of humour gets me coming back again and again. The modern, airy interior is a pleasure to exist in, and their music is tasteful. Their Cava jam (I think it’s coconut or something?), asian noodle soup, toasted ciabatta, french crepes and burgers beautifully complement the skilfully made coffee – and the baristas there are more than happy to tell you all about how they make the coffee taste so good if you have the time. 10/10, am going back tomorrow!
Food, burger and coffee! One of the best Perth have to offer!!. This is the second time my wife and I visited this place for its Burgers and coffee! It’s simply Just awesome! First.. let me talk about the bread! It’s soft! But it’s also not too soft! I can’t discribe its texture with words.. You have to try it to understand what I’m talking about! Second! The steak in the burger! I don’t know what they use.. But it’s so juicy! And tender! I can barely find anything wrong with it.. The sauce doesn’t flood the burger and its key to a good burger!! This is the place! This is now my new benchmark for burgers! Lastly, coffee! I must say.. I never knew the difference between types of coffee! This place made me the best coffee I’ve tasted in my life.. Drinkable when it’s served! Ive googled what makes a coffee good! And this place ticks all the boxes! The guy that makes coffee! Stepan! Awesome guy! Perfect example of good customer service and professionalism! Love this place! Soo good!!
