*Rating is a 2.5* Havent been here in a while due to a previous bad experience with the service. Food was very average with no stand outs – chicken hokkien noodles (ok), seafood kuay teow (dry), spring roll, crab & corn soup (lacking flavour), szechuan beef (nicest of the dishes), snow peas in oyster sauce ($26!) & fried rice. There were only 3 other tables dining & service was still sorely lacking (we were considering dessert but there was no one around to ask so we just got up and paid). The bill was very steep at $240 for 4 people considering only one person had alcohol. The best thing about this place? The decor – with white tablecloths, crystal chandeliers & service staff in professional uniform it has a nice classy feel. The worst thing? Be prepared to pay top dollar for food you could pay a lot less for elsewhere.
Been there again after eight years during the Chinese New Year, this time went with another couple so that we could share more food. Overall the food are very good. The owner/chef is from Hong Kong so you could expect the Chinese style cooking food really. We particularly like the egg yolk squid (tried the prawn last time), the Chiu Chau Stew Duck (quite a good portion) and the Glutinous Rice was the dish of the night ! We enjoyed the food very much but service-wise, most of the waiters are not doing a good job, either not smiling and just ignore your wave. We understand that night could be extremely busy and they should have enough staff to help out. alfredcslau.wordpress.com
Had the egg yolk white bait, soft shell crabs, mixed seafood clay pot and the signature chicken. The white bait was too crispy to the extent I cant chew on the white bait. The soft shell crabs has way too much batter on them and not enough crabs to justify the price. The mixed seafood clay pot was good. The signature chicken was over cooked so the meat became tough. The prices for the above are not cheap. Not very good value for money.
