I love this place. The delightful owners are unashamed about the fact that they’ve been here 32 years, they don’t always open, their business and lifestyles converge and family comes first. The chef may post on Facebook that it’s soup and sandwiches only for the next hour cause she’s off to the gym! Some people might find this offensive, I think it’s charming. It’s like being invited into someone’s home. Money is never taken before the orders are consumed and I witnessed one embarrassed local who’d gone home before remembering she hadn’t paid for lunch. The owners didn’t seem to mind, after all there’s always next week! The food is varied, tasty, fresh, healthy and much is grown in the cottage gardens. Art is on exhibition and the decor is eclectic and interesting. A fish tank provides an excellent conversation point around the previous tenant oscars who spent their entire lives having babies that they subsequently ate.The chef has a collection of cookbooks taking inspiration from many of my favourite authors. No wonder I like the offer. This is a must-do lunch spot in Bridgetown, just ask the locals.

This restaurant had some of the best food I have ever eaten in the southwest. It’s a family run business and the cook Pip is so passionate about food and has a knack to tweek fresh ingredients that all come from local suppliers or her veggie patch. I love places that use all local produce
