Nice bar and great seating areas. First time I’ve been here and didn’t expect this kind of venue. Had the bread with dips and was a very nice light snack for lunch. Good venue and kind service. Great beer gardens
Myself and a group of work colleagues dined here on Saturday, 15 December. Having been here before for a few drinks and for the chilli winglets, we thought we would come back for dinner. Sadly, we were beyond disappointed. We ordered the BBQ winglets, the chilli winglets and dips. The BBQ winglets were fine but the chilli winglets were completely cold. Having had them before months ago, we knew they were usually juicy and fresh. These were served cold and completely dried out. Some were so dry and small they essentially were the size of a large pinky. We are of the thought that these wings were definitely not fresh and likely were recycled from a Christmas party function that was happening earlier that evening as there is no possible way freshly cooked chicken looks or tastes like that. The mains we then had were equally as disappointing. The fish in the fish and chips was so thinly battered that the thin piece of fish essentially dried out as a result and, like the wings, the chips were cold. A friend who ordered the chicken couldnt have pepper but instead of sauting it another way, or even perhaps poaching it, she received a dry piece of chicken with some stir fry vegetables. If it really is a team of chefs, surely someone in the kitchen could have had a moment of inspiration? For the amount you are paying for these meals, the least you should receive is freshly cooked meat, hot chips (or chips consistently warmed like in any other commercial kitchen), and a $28 burger should probably come on a plate and not a plastic tray with a wad of greaseproof paper. Ive never written a complaint before and am fully aware Christmas is a manic time in hospitality and hence did not want to had to the service staff stress, but to serve food that is cold and recycled from earlier in the night is appalling and frankly, unacceptable.
You want Empire Bar to be fancy but luckily (or not?) it’s a normal kind of bar with a DJ who plays 90s hiphop on Saturdays, while two or three drunk people dance in front of him for encouragement. I’ve enjoyed the wines and also the cocktails here, but not so much the food. It’s in a convenient location, decent feel and has a good choice of drinks. Good enough for me!
Visited this venue last night for a girlfriends birthday dinner. I would describe the dining area as huge, well lit and ambient, very open and not very busy at all – however it was diabolical rainy weather out so I recon everyone in Perth decided to stay in for the night. The service was very attentive and cheerful and a constant flow of fresh water was brought to our table which was fantastic! The food was good. I chose the chicken breast, and felt it was a bit over priced and generic. I wont rush back…
At the Empire bar I had the New York pizza it was under cooked keepers it in a little bit longer and it would be fine I didn’t like the setup but maybe change it every 3 months or so
I got the chicken breast with smashed pumpkin. An absolutely delicious dish that i would happily order again and again. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, but a little too overwhelming. 3 out of 4 on our table enjoyed the dishes alot. 1 of the steaks came overcooked.
This place use to be my regular Sunday session back 10yrs ago and it’s changed a whole lot since then. Interior is very nice and decent seating area in the restaurant, comfy chairs too. By chance it was half price pizza night so there was no choice but for us to order a pizza each. I’ve been here before and had the tortilla crisps and they are a must for a starter to share, simple but very tasty (can make these at home too if you Google it) really enjoying pepperoni pizza, the drizzle of pesto is a good little extra flavour punch. The dough was thin and crisp. Nothing was to fault, maybe I should have ordered two, one to take home for today’s lunch at work. I miraculously made space for dessert and this amazing butterscotch ice cream sandwich hit the spot, very very good! Highly recommend this dish to finish a starter, 3 drinks, 4 pizzas and 4 desserts for $150 was great value
