An old icon of Albany – this place has changed a lot since I used to go here many years ago. Decor is a lot better and the food is of good quality .. is 100x better than I remember it.
Okay Italian Food in the heart of Albany. Food was not great, but staff were friendly and efficient. Huge serving sizes, so ensure you bring your appetite. I had the Southern pizza, which lacked flavour. My partner had the prawn linguini which was significantly better then the pizza. We shared arancini balls as an entree, but also were not packed with flavour. Overall, very friendly place to dine, food could be better.
Our meals were okay, not startlingly good but not bad either. The parmigiana was tender enough and had a nice tomato sauce topping however it was drenched in cheese – some people love that some people hate it, I’m on the middle of the fence and found there to be a little too much. It was busy-ish and staff weren’t very attentive (not a deal breaker but still a bit annoying to wait 15+ mins for a bottle of water). Overall I would check out some of the other places in Albany before coming here.
Venice have always provided a wonderful dining experience for me every time I’ve been in Albany. The consistently good food and friendly service keeps me coming back.Fettuccine carbonara was as good as ever and presented nicely. It didn’t look gloopy or too saucy and tasted lovely and creamy. My partner really enjoyed his beef cheeks; I had a taste and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Both meals were piping hot when they came out which was excellent.Thank you, Venice, for another wonderful meal. We look forward to coming back soon.
