Owners won’t fix a simple misunderstanding. The staff behind the counter didn’t hear me ask for soy milk in my coffee, after serving me a regular coffee and me explaining that I had asked for soy milk they said it’s not their fault and I’d have to buy another one. They wouldn’t budge on their stance.I’ve never seen behaviour like this before, and the most I’ve ever had to deal with from other cafes is paying for difference with the soy milk surcharge (fair enough).They didn’t say explicitly it was my fault but there was a pretty strong implication. Having been off dairy for 5 years I’m pretty used to ordering coffee with soy, I know I definitely said it.That was a waste of $4:50, I guess I’m not going back there again.
New management. Bay Road Pantry has new owners. This used to be a friendly neighbourhood cafe with great coffee. Now there has been a huge downhill slide. The staff are rude and abrupt. The coffee bitter and undrinkable. The food very average. Bought some takeaway snacks today – discovered one was half eaten already when we got home!
Just had a lovely breakfast here with my sister. Very prompt service, tasty food, great tea & coffee was apparently very good. Just need to ask them not to butter the ciabatta. Really very pleased!

Had a tart and a breakfast special. Fantastic! The coffee was great too.The tart was fresh from the oven and had chilli and goats cheese, we had it with a side serve of spicy chickpea salad from the cabinet and it was also served with an eggplant relish that was amazing. The brekkie was very well priced and the flavours were perfectly balanced. Friendly counter service and we left with change in our pockets and a smile on our face.

Happy wally. Often pop into this local for a coffee, or breaky. Nice atmosphere in that neighbourhoody cafe kinda way. Staff are always friendly, and remember your regular coffee order which is nice. Great muffins, and good quality and reasonably priced breakfast options.Coffee is consistent, strong and the right temperature, which some places dont seem to get right.The lunch items displayed in the cabinet all look interesting and fresh.Lovely sitting out front too, with the local dog walkers and regulars.Thumbs up from me !
