I am still confused what this place actually is, since it does curry, grilled fish and chips. Im not a big fan, but I seem to be in the minority as the locals love it. Try for yourself and you’ll either be bored to tears like me, or love it like the rest.
MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN RECENTLY TO THE GOVENDER’S. GREAT FOOD GOOD ATMOSPHERE AND WELL PRICED,WOULD RECOMMEND ANYTIME,VERY FRIENDLY DEFENDLY GO BACK AGAIN.
It is great, to enjoy a yummy Austrian Gulasch with Sptzle downunder!!! The Styrian masterchef Joachim and his lovely wife Laetitia from Tahiti – what a friendly couple! It was great to sit outside and to enjoy homemade Apple Crumble and a quality cup of Cappuccino. The Swiss Bircher Muesli and Poached Eggs with Avocado for Breakfast is one of my favourites. The menu offers a huge variety of low fat and gluten free Curries, healthy Salads and grilled Fish. There are always lunch specials on offer under 10 Dollars. I loved the junky Pumpkin Soup with the home baked onion bread. I`ll be back soon!!
We recently celebrated my husband’s birthday here with 25 people. Everyone was amazed by the quality of the food, the beautiful flavours and the personal ambiance of the place. We had selected a variety of dishes from the menu, including samosas, beef goulash, pumpkin curry, bread varieties and vegetarian dishes. We finished the feast with home made apple crumble served with ice cream and cream. The value for money and the personal service leading up to the event were exemplary and although we knew the standard of the food, as we visit the restaurant regularly, we were blown away (and so were our guests) by the attention to detail on the night of the event. We highly recommend this restaurant and, having 5 star hospitality experience ourselves wish we could give it a 6 star plus rating. We will definitely come back again and again to this hidden gem in Joondalup.
I used to come here a few years ago and it was always packed out, reasonably priced, and they cooked lovely fresh fish. Most of the local clientele were British, and it delivered the kind of fish and chips that British people love. Now it has been taken over and it seems that the curry is the dish to have. We were told that they no longer do battered fish, so we chose crumbed. It was okay, but not amazing – obviously frozen, and very thin. The chips were nice and the mushy peas were also okay, but again didn’t quite hit the mark. I can see from the reviews that the new clientele like the new look Govenders, but for me it just wasn’t the same and I won’t go back. Also quite expensive now. suevmcdonald.wordpress.com
We have been going to Govender’s for over 4 years now and the quality and freshness of their food remains 5 star. Their curry is one of our personal favourites. We have taken friends and family over the years and they too have become regular visitors and fans of the great flavour, taste and affordability.Although we prefer to try new restaurants, we find we cant stay away from them.If you haven’t been, treat yourself and go today!
