I will never frequent this cafe again. This is the second time I have been met with attitude. The first time there wasnt much interaction, just ordering and receiving my order, but the staff came across very surly and when I did ask a question, it was as if I was wasting her time. Today, I had been up all night in the A&E department with my daughter, so I was sleep deprived and it was now 1.00 pm. I thought I’d ordered a toasted ham and cheese panini. When I went to collect it, it was a toasted sandwich. I stopped, went to hand it back as I thought it was someone elses order. I admitted it was my mistake as I thought I had orded a panini. They do not do ham and cheese toasted paninis, only sandwiches. The attitude I was given was unbelievable and was told it written clearly in the window where the food is displayed. Then to hear then talking about it. This is unacceptable service, for all she knew, my daughter could have been gravely ill and the last I needed was rudness. I asked what the process was to complain, and she smirked at me that the owner was in at 7.30. I think the staff dont realise that effectively, it is the customer who pay her wages and if you dont like people, go and work somewhere you dont have to interact with them. I will definitely be making a complaint and will be spreading the word to friends and colleagues to avoid going there.

Owners = Rude.Food & Drinks = over priced ($10.50) for a toasted sandwich???Staff = Need to be more polite to everyone. With this cafe having the monotony in the hospital and treating the sick, injured and elderly the way they do, they should be ashamed of running this business the way the do. I will never visit this establishment again!

All the staff seemed to have a problem with smiling or even being polite, very rude , I get the feeling that no one is game to complain as they are so unapproachable even to just order food, crappy thing is that you have no other choice of cafe within the hospital, guess that’s why they are the way they are!

Recently I had to visit the hospital a bit and was pleased to find the cafe on site has amazing coffee. I’m unsure as to if they’ve changed since the last reviews I just read and was also pleased to find they don’t charge extra for extra coffee shots or soy milk; and my interaction with staff was always nothing but pleasant. Ive worked hospitality my whole career and didn’t find their price exorbitant at all, I asked questions and found they use premium ingredients and quality WA vendors. They could go cheaper and get international food vendors but they’ve chosen to keep it all WA and if not WA at least Australian. The 70c surcharge is a crappy thing and something a lot of small businesses get charged with from the bank their eftpos machine is with and big conglomerates like McDonalds don’t need to charge it as they’re a multi billion dollar company, they bring in enough money the bank lets it slide. It may interest you to know that up until last year pause didn’t have eftpos, and you’d have to go get money out of the onsite ATM, which charges $2. So to sum up, my experience was great and maybe they’ve changed a few things and gotten better.

Whatever you do, DON’T ORDER COFFEE from this place. Its absolutely horrible – tasted like hot milk with a bit of bitter hot water added. I’m convinced they reused the coffee beans here in the two coffees I ordered – worst coffee I’ve ever tried to drink. Honestly, the instant coffee available from the hospital ward is far more drinkable.

These people should be put out of business for the extremely overpriced food & drinks. They should hide their head in shame preying on the sick & vulnerable.

The Caf that gives you Pause for thought!Unfortunately I was hospitalised at Joondalup Health Campus and found that this caf was the ONLY caf within the hospital grounds. It always seemed busy which I took as a good sign…until I bought a sandwich and coffee. The coffee was a tepid, bloody awful affair and the sandwich that proclaimed itself to be ‘fresh’ was anything but! All the staff seemed to have a problem with smiling or even being polite, that goes for the only man behind the counter as well, I get the feeling that no one is game enough to complain about the mediocre food, horrid coffee or exorbitant prices incase this charming fellow jumped the counter and pummeled them!Pause has an absolute monopoly so they do and charge what they want. An overall terrible experience, unfriendly staff, horrid coffee, stale sandwiches passed off as fresh all for which they charge you like a wounded bull. If you are able to access the many wonderful cafs just outside the hospital grounds, then please do so and give Pause a very, very wide birth…disgraceful!
