My friend and I decided to catch up at the Resident for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant is light and airy and located in a great spot on Hampton Road. For food we shared the roasted pumpkin, goats curd, spinach and pesto pizza $25 and the haloumi fries with habanero sauce $13. For drinks I got the Aperol Spirtz $13 and my friend the Barose ros $9.5. Food wise the roasted pumpkin pizza was pretty tasty and a decent size in which we both got 4 slices each. The haloumi fries did have good flavour however I was disappointed that they came out a bit soggy and not crispy plus there wasnt enough habanero sauce! In terms of service it was on the slow side since it really wasnt that busy. Overall not a bad spot. Also good to note that the Resident does take reservations so handy if your going in a large group.
*Rating is a 3.5*Came for Sunday breakfast for 6. Really liked the decor and feel of this place (its a bit hamptons style). Between us we tried the zucchini and sweet potato fritters (a bit too heavy/oily), fried haloumi stack and the bacon n hash breakfast. Food portions were generous and on the whole tasted pretty good. Food took a long time to come out (almost an hour) which was odd as the restaurant was not very busy at all. Half our table received their dishes and there was another wait for the rest which was a bit annoying as everyone was so hungry at this point. Overall, its a nice place to come for breakfast, but I think service issues need to be sorted.
$10 burger special every Wednesday is so worth it. The burgers are not only filling but tasty as well. I had the vegetarian burger and the patty was deep fried and extra crunchy! The chips were good too. The other dish to definitely get here are the halloumi chips. So good but so sinful! The corn fritters were delicious too but seem to taste similar to the burger possibly because of the corn in both of them
Ordered the gnocchi with a glass of wine for lunch and they were pretty good. Staff were friendly and attentive. Given the pleasant first experience, I came back the second time for their espresso martini with a few colleague of mine and it was a let down. I’ve also tried their coffee when I was on the way to work and no doubt it is one of the worst coffee I’ve tasted. Colleagues decided to have office luncheon here again and this time we tried for burgers and chicken and they were pretty average.
We came here for a friend’s birthday celebration. Food were quite tasty and portion was big. For some reason, they missing taken the order for one of the dish. We waited quite some time for the food to arrive despite the restaurant being fairly empty on a weekday evening. Staff was quite apologetic after we gave them the feedback.
