These are new owners from when I last visited and and the basic decor and seating hasn’t changed. THe food is really good and it is an authentic Japanese restaurant and a gem to be discovered. reasonable price for the quality of the food. worth a visit definitely
yeah well nah. there was hardly anyone in there, ordered the sashimi set and the octopus was nice and chewy but slimey. the teriyaki beef was dry and too salty but i guess the rice was cooked nicely
Best sushi around the University and Broadway shops. Freshly made. Sashimi is a bit thick for my preference. Fairly priced and friendly service.
I really like the staff at Wagaya. Courteous, helpful, friendly and efficient. Hopefully one day soon the seating area will be updated so it’s brighter and warmer. In the meantime I’m happy to keep going back. I recommend the takeaways!
You’d have no idea how good this place is from the front. Really quality food, pretty quick and great service. There is also really nice seating inside at the back that you’d have no idea was there. Strongly recommend you give it a go!
Frequent here during my studies for lunch. The food is standard but good, not especially outstanding. I mostly get takeaway and have only dined in once. The lighting inside is not pleasant to me, and the atmosphere of the restaurant wasn’t particularly comforting. The restaurant looks most appealing at the front where the bar is. The presentation of the food isn’t amazing or inventive but that shouldn’t be something to bother you. The staff is friendly, polite and endearing, though they are not the type of people to engage in casual banter. I will continue going here for lunch when I’m craving some nearby Japanese food during my uni days. It is a better alternative than the Japanese place in Broadway Fair and worth the slightly longer walk to get there.
Had a very pleasant meal there this evening with three of us. Attentive and cheerful service, and good food. The standouts were the spicy Chige, and the Beef Tataki. The decor was dated, and it looks unprepossessing from the street (and until you get into the actual restaurant section right at the back, but other than that, the service was great and the food all enjoyable. Prices reasonable. Note that the restaurant is licensed, serving a small selection of saki, Japanese beer, white and red wine; or BYO (corkage $7 per bottle). We’ll go there again.
