First time here for 4 of us on a Saturday night. It’s newly opened, deep in the suburbs and as is our preference, within walking distance. Only 20% of tables taken so they are still building a client base. They also sell a small selection of fine groceries from shelves amongst the tables. It’s neatly done and spacious. The furnishings are polished timber and black painted steel – quite pleasing. The menu is based on Italian casual. We were attended to promptly although with few other customers this night. We ordered a chicken and pasta dish, a meat and pasta dish, a Margherita pizza and a calzone which although not listed was readily provided. My meat & pasta was served with sides of parmesan and chopped fresh red chillies. All 4 dishes were well cooked, nicely presented and eaten to completion with complimentary remarks.Without raising one complaint, with prompt service and a pleasing and uncluttered layout, this place has been added to the top of our local go-to list. Very good.
Hubby and I went for a quick breakfast yesterday. We were there quite early (about 8ish I believe) and ordered 2 coffees, scrambled eggs on toast and a croissant with jam.We really enjoyed the coffee and it was quite creamy. The croissant with jam was so fresh and very nice (my only issue here is why do people keep their little butters in the blinking fridge in winter??) It is too hard to spread. The scrambled eggs were nice and light and creamy. However like other reviews the ciabatta bread was way over toasted and really hard to eat (we left ours). I must say I find that a lot of places serve this bread and I personally don’t like how hard it is.Overall I think some of their pricing is a little high (to be fair I haven’t seen the size of the meals) but hubby and I would go back to try something other than breakfast.
The breakfast here is below average, much like the service. Ordered simple poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon (extra $5). The ‘side of bacon’ came out as one rasher of bacon on the side of the plate. We sent it back as we obviously didn’t want to pay $5 for one rasher of bacon so the chef/cook kindly added one more rasher to the plate before sending it back out to us at which point we just looked at each other and carried on, both knowing how ridiculous it was. Our ciabatta toast was so hard I actually had to use a steak knife to cut it, my husband left his as it was cutting up his mouth. His scrambled eggs were crumbly and dry and my poached eggs were cold and hard. I then sent my toast back because I actually couldn’t even get through it with the steak knife. They sent it another piece that was toasted normally (not difficult to do!). I then asked for a refund for at least one of the meals. The manager came out and told us that ciabatta bread is hard and that is how it is supposed to be and I just liked it raw and she’s sorry but she can’t please everyone. Offered more toast or “food” to which we said no thanks but said she would not give a refund because they replaced the food that was complained about. So basically told us we were wrong, too bad so sad. Our son, however, loved the play area and his smiley face pancakes!! Coffee was average, very milky with no depth of flavour. Would I go back? For a coffee and a play, possibly, but for a meal, no. The service is amateurish – slow, unprofessional and clumsy. Maybe the family and friends of the owners and their frequent glossy Insta posts and stories will keep this place going but I am not so sure that is sustainable. Customers want quality food, large servings, impeccable service and a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Nobody likes leaving a place on a Saturday morning feeling like they have just wasted their hard earned money!!
Great kids area and the coffee is alright. The conti rolls are alright for lunch but gee whiz they really struggle with breakfast. Rock hard poached eggs with bread that could be used as a door stop. Service is possibly the worst I’ve encountered in Perth to date. The staff are friendly and mean well but they really are inefficient. There’s a gentleman who works here that is just so slow, painfully slow, and two of the women here appear to have no idea how to take orders. Eg. Taking breakfast to one person on a table of two and then asking “are you waiting on anything else?” Clearly they would be. A lot of polishing left to do here at what could be a really great spot.
Would not recommend this cafe. We had lunch at Pimlott and Strand today and encountered the worst service and longest wait for our food. There were errors in deliveries, cold and over cooked food. There were 7 of us and although we ordered at the counter separately we all ordered consecutively but our meals were served at half hour intervals. We received a bland disinterested apology when we complained. This cafe has all the ingredients to be brilliant but the service is non existent and poor. Such a shame.
