Dined there last night with my colleagues and ordered polenta chips for entree, spaghetti marinara arrabbiata (spicy) for main and tiramisu for dessert. Waiting time was relatively longer than usual, however the waiter is seemed to be apologetic about it. The entree was cooked well, complemented by a tangy tomato salsa, topped with generous helping of shaved parmesan. For the main, the pasta was al dente and the sauce was excellent. I had 4 pieces of prawns and some bits of squid. The spiciness of the pasta sauce was just right and not overwhelming. For $34, it was really worth it. Lastly the tiramisu was a bit of a disappointment considering it looked really good when it arrived at my table. But the consistency and texture was too soggy for my liking. All in all the food was good and would’ve given Orecchiette Bunbury 4 out of 5. However what really pissed me off is that one of the waitress have accidentally spilled a really cold beverage on my shirt. I could’ve understand that she never meant to, but to be unapologetic about it was simply unacceptable. I was hoping the restaurant would at least offer me a complementary drink for that trouble. Lastly my colleagues and I spent at least 15 minutes in front of the cashier trying to settle our bill. The fact that our bill can’t be split is inconvenient enough, the cashier seemed to get the numbers wrong. At the end of the night most of us left the restaurant both disappointed and aggravated. The food maybe good, but service really sucked!
We were having a lunch there. Two boys were serving us alternatively and one of them was pretty new I reckoned. I ordered a chicken burger. About 5-10 mins later, the boy told me the Chef said there’s no chicken today. What a menu ! I changed to beef instead but with a higher price. Usually the damage control from the restaurant would offered the same price but they didn’t (and I didn’t ask for that neither). Later on I overheard another table next to us the customer ordered a glass of wine, but the boy came back and told the customer they didn’t have the wine the customer ordered. Another miss !! The burger was with a cold bread and just a cafe standard, overall it is over-priced. Another pasta we had is not good neither. With no reason to come back.
We were a no booking walk-in on a Saturday night for two people. Weren’t turned away and only had to wait 10 mins in the packed atmospheric restaurant. Excellent service, attentive to drinks which seems rare in Bunbury and most restaurants these days. Food quick and impressive. Highly recommend.
