Whilst being in Bunbury for business, we decided to have dinner at the pub. It was packed (mid week), but we were able to secure a table. Service was friendly and prompt. I had the steak with chips and salad. It’s typical pub grub but done well. Steak was cooked to my liking.

They were super busy tonight and said there would be 45 min wait I was ok with that. Our meals came out 1:20 later . My medium rare tomahawk came out well done, so disappointed. Said do me another another 20 min nah all too long.3 other meals ok but I had planned all day for the big steak.

Lots of reserved tables on a Friday evening. We tried the beef short ribs and a porterhouse. If you’re looking for pub food, there’s not really much to critique. It is exactly what you’d expect, good amount of food and nicely done meat. The sauces and the mac+cheese were good sides. I would have liked a little more salad instead of chips but each to their own.

Last week I was sent off to Bunbury for my final regional work trip for the year. For dinner I decided that I was craving some pub grub and my lovely partner decided to join me. We opted for the Rose Hotel which I believe is one of the oldest building in Bunbury that has recently been renovated. The interior was quite industrial and casual. I ordered the pork ribs which were delicious. The meat was tender and covered in a delicious sticky barbeque sauce. It was served with chips which were really good – super crunchy on the outside and still soft on the inside, onion rings as well as some charred corn. The servings were very generous and great value for money. I would be paying a lot more for my meal if it was in Perth. I personally believe that the ribs were comparable to Tony Romas. My partner order the scotch filet with pepper sauce. His steak was cooked to perfection – even better than heaps of steak places in Perth! It was definitely comparable to Char Char Bull which is probably one of our favourite steak places. The steak had an amazing charred flavour on the outside and was still pink and juicy on the inside (we like our steak medium rare). The pepper sauce was also really delicious – probably the best pepper sauce I have tasted. I would definitely return to this place if I am ever in Bunbury again. We had the Entertainment Book which was buy 1 get 1 free, so we definitely got our bang for our buck.
