Rex is the best food place in town!. My partner and I go to the Rex at least once a week, sometimes more. We have never had a problem with it, most friendliest staff and the food is absolute divine. We go for lunch, very efficient with getting your food and it’s always very tasty! Would recommend this restaurant to anyone, who likes cheap and tasty food. 10/10
Not The Rex of old.. The Rex Cafe has been a Bunbury icon for a long time. Many years ago it was renowned for simple, fresh, delicious food prepared with love. This has been lost somewhere. A near empty restaurant on a Saturday night is testament to this. Oysters were big but the bacon wasn’t cooked and the Worcestershire sauce had little flavour.Chilli muscles were quite nice (imported NZ green)but the bread wasn’t fresh that was served with them. The fish for main had no flavour and the seafood was frozen. The seafood platter was mainly squid rings and not much else for $35.The salad garnish on the plate included the stalk end of a tomato which normally goes to compost in my kitchen. Not on a plate served to a guest.Service was friendly but you couldn’t help but feel the sooner you left the better so everyone could go home. This was at 9pm. We won’t go back and I don’t think The Rex really care if they get repeat business or not.
Was a little on the expensive side for the quality of food and level of service .I had the reef n beef which only came with a very small serve of fries and nothing else. Greek salad was very miserable in terms of content.Gents conveniences resemble a garden shed , probably should have checked this app first.
Solid Affordable Friendly Lunch. We stopped here for lunch during a day trip in Bunbury- 2 adults and a five year old. For Chicken Parm, Lasagna and salad and a kids meal of spaghetti bolognase with chips and a juice plus coffees for the grown ups we paid about $35 – what a bargain. Service was very friendly and efficient considering the lunch time crowd – it is clearly popular with locals. Meals were good solid meals of the old pub style variety that you just don’t seem to get any more – no glitz or glamour, just normal good food that everyone enjoyed. Generous but not too large portions, fresh and hit the spot. Will be back next visit for sure.
This is the worst place we have eaten at in a long time. We waited over an hour for our food. The seafood wasn’t fresh it was frozen, couldn’t eat the fish it was watery and tasted revolting so were the scollops, the squid was like eating rubber. The chips were cold when we finally received our meal. The steak had a lot of grissle through it. And to top it off it was a cold night and the restaurant door doesn’t close properly, we asked the young waitress to close it and she said she wasn’t allowed to it needed to be open so people knew the restaurant was open even tho they had an open sign on the door, but the other waitress closed it when we asked her! Not very good service at all would not recommend this place to anyone!
