My partner took me here for a surprise dinner and it was a great night out, the only thing I could fault is that for the price there was not a lot of variety in the food and expected there to be more choices for the mains the dessert selection however was quiet large and the view of the track was great I would come back in the future
Oysters, more oysters and a bottle of bubblyThe social club organised a night out at the Trots last Friday and if it hadn’t been a heavily subsidised meal, I might think twice about dining here. The buffet is quite basic for $69 per head when you compare it to the Atrium at the casino. $30 drinks package for free flow of limited alcoholic range for 5 hours is good value. Alcohol included Oxford Landing wine, Angus Brut Sparkling, bottle beer and cider, Hahn Super Dry & Hahn Super Dry 3.5 on tap & soft drinks Maybe it helps to reduce the sting on the cost of the buffet.Highlights of buffet: oysters! Get in early and avoid them after 8.30pm as warm room temperature oysters is not good for your health. Deep fried whole fish – succulent tender flesh, yum. Roast pork and crackle – no explanation required lol. Sweet and sour pork was surprisingly good. Prawns were apparently fresh. Cheese selection looked okay. Service was efficient considering how many diners are packed into the restaurant. Not so good: desserts are a non-event and not worth the extra calories. Overcooked vegetables and soggy salads. Although the buffet is meant to go to 10pm, they ran out of most of the desserts by 8.30pm.If you’re a regular punter at the trots, it’s a good night out. If you’re part of a social club, it’s an awesome night especially with free flow of alcohol. You get my drift…
15th Jan. 2016Positives, food (especially the fresh Oysters).Fire-works were excellentNegatives, air conditioning turned off in restaurant 30 minutes prior to fire works.Escalators for the 3 floors were turned off prior to usleaving the restaurant.Premium Drinks package over-priced considering the Vasse Felix red and white wines were not included despite being only $4 dearer than the others????Also had to speak to manager to get premium beer as was initially advised thatLittle Creatures pale ale wasnot included in premium package despite being the same price as Corona which was included. Manager included the beer after being approached.
