Very mixed reviews here. Whilst I agree with the others, got to disagree with some of the harsh comments here.Came here in a Saturday brunch for dim sum, place was empty. I believe we were the 3rd and 4th Customer for the day at about midday. We ordered the classic squid tentacles, siewmai, Shanghai dumplings, rice flour with Chinese donuts and their roast pork fried rice lunch special. The food was a mixed bag of good and ordinary. Nothing was overly inedible, but there are some good ones definitely. The squid tentacles was the best dish out of the lot, unfortunately as more and more food came out, the standard dropped slightly. Squid was actually perfectly cooked and the crispy texture, the taste was good.Roast pork was the second dish to come out, now, this is not your standard Chinese restaurant roast pork, it feels like it has been westernised a lot, is it bad? Definitely not, but it’s definitely different. Take a look at pictures to see what I meant. Now from here on end, this is where the good story ends, everything else smells heavily refrigerated like it’s old. Whilst taste is not too bad, it doesn’t feel fresh which really knock it down a peg or two. I think the final disappointment arrived when we ordered the runny salted egg yolk bun, only to discover it’s rock solid and not runny at all.All in all, I will give this place another go, service is brilliant, food came out quick enough and as I said, it isn’t bad, just not overly good. All the best silvermoon.
Ordered over MenuLog, and to start there, no description of plates at all, when I came to pick up the food I realized the menu does not have any either.Ordered vegetarian spring rolls, prawn dumplings, stir fried chicken with black beans, steam rice and chicken soup.Spring rolls seemed to be old, not crunchy at all, the stir fried chicken was ok, nothing special, the dumplings were ok as well, nothing better than what you can get out of the supermarket and the soup was a real disaster, the wife couldn’t eat it. It was water with a thickening agent, no chicken, only the scraps from the top when you boil chicken. Inedible.Price wise is ok for all the dishes but the soup, paid $14.90 for that. Not coming back.
I was forewarned that this place was the worst dim sum in Perth. Was it edible? Yes. Was it better than frozen supermarket dim sum? Hmmm on par. What was terrible though was the teeny tiny portion sizes but huge prices! Rice flour rolls for $5.50 looked like it was half eaten and prawn dumplings tasted ok, pastry was a bit thick but they were midget sized. $13.50 of lunch special chilli pepper squid came with 6 pieces only!! Is this a serving for ants? Needed to be at least 3 times bigger! Will not be back for the lack of quality AND quantity for that price point.
Expensive food that was average at best. Slow service with an almost empty restaurant. Chicken feet were undercooked and bland.Possibly the worst music I have ever heard in a restaurant. Sounded like telephone hold music from 20 years (or more) ago.Don’t waste your money, go to Hawker’s Cuisine in Northbridge for great, well priced food.
been here a few times. food is bad – lacks a lot of flavour. I ordered the sweet and sour pork from their lunch special once, pork cubes was fried in some tasteless batter with sweet and sour sauce that is so thin in consistency that it shouldn’t even be called a sauce! seems like it’s just a mixture of water, vinegar, food coloring and cornstarch to me. 100% DO NOT RATE.*edit*been here a few times since my last visit, i still stick by the fact that this isn’t the BEST chinese restaurant out there but there has been an improvement and there is a few dishes on the menu that are pretty good and I usually stick to : the lemon pork chop rice set on the lunch menu, hot and sour soup & salt and pepper squid.
Worst dimsum ever! Should’ve known and walked out when there were no other customers in sight (except 3 people sitting on a large table who looked like they were waiting for other guests to arrive but left not long after we were seated)! Despite being the only table, service was extremely slow. What an embarrassment! Food arrived slow and tasted worse than the frozen dimsums I get from Chinese grocers! If you want to serve frozen dimsum, at least choose quality ones, they’re not expensive to buy! Prices are ridiculous for such poor quality food. This restaurant needs to shut down and be saved before it looks anymore ridiculous! Seriously! Sorry for the negative review but it must be said and something must be done if you want to win customers!
What happened? Is what we were all left wondering when we came here with a group of colleagues we had come with a year previously. Once a great alternative to the busy Northbridge yumcha options but not anymore. Not only has the food deteriorated the service was terribly slow and the prices have increased. We were horrified at the ‘large’ squid that was $16.90 and not much larger than the ones you get in Chinatown (we had to get 2 plates for our table of 7) and what we thought would be a quick meal definitely wasn’t so. Sadly none of us will be returning!
