At first, we think the price seem reasonable but the dishes came out quite small portion. We ordered braised chicken with basil ( 3 cups chickens) but the taste is totally different what we normally have and signature tofu turned out to be cold ( must be deep fried way before we ordered) and covered only with fried shallots. The rice they served are dry and lumpy. Not happy.
First visit to this restaurant last night. Ordered the hokkian mee and a bit shocked with the serving, small portion with lot of cabbage, lot of tiny fried lard,2 or 3 tiny pieces of pork meat and tiny prawn (like dried prawn), same with hubby’s Ho Fun in egg gravy . and my son had the chicken salted fish fried rice …not much ingredients too. The dish we had costs $ 12.90 each and it was way overpriced considering the taste, portion, ingredients , restaurant settings and the services. Really really felt cheated and will definitely NOT going back again.
Went there with friend, all Malaysian Chinese. Food presentation is good, but too salty, and too much msg in it made me keep drinking water the whole night..sorry
A little gem tucked away in the corner of a square, but so glad we found it. What’s good?* Steam Fish with Nyonya sauce- Fish is caught fresh off their aquarium and cooked well with a mouth-watering sauce. Reasonably priced; under $30.* Salted Egg Yolk Squid – Kids love this, but adults love this more. Crispy and golden.* Chai Poh Tofu- Soft & light textured tofu topped with fragrant salted radish bits.* Spinach with Trio of Eggs- Stands out from other restaurants in the broth; has a herbal taste to it with goji berries.* Curry Kapitan Squid – Squid is cooked well and curry has a great flavour.* Sambal Mix BeansNoodles, chicken and beef dishes aren’t the best; beef is a bit on the tough side. But there are enough of other dishes to satisfy us. Pork ribs are a better choice of meat dish, especially the Guinness ribs or Salted Egg Yolk ribs.Simple setting, but clean and spacious. Food is great, mostly priced reasonably, and service is friendly. If you’re not sure what to order, ask the staff to give you their recommendations; they’ll gladly assist you.
assam curry fish head, steam nyonya fish, pork knuckle and sambal mixed bean taste was very very nice, taste exactly same like malaysia, will be back next time
Stumbled upon this little restaurant hidden in the corner. I believed we went in when they were only a few months old. Ordered a few dishes, hainan chicken, bean sprouts, wintermelon soup, Ipoh hofun, Chee cheong fun. Overall the taste were good however overpriced and small portion. I love my soup so I was excited to hear that they served wintermelon soup, however it was $8.80 for the tiniest bowl with two small pieces of wintermelon, one piece of spare rib and probably 5 spoonfuls of soup. (That’s the price for a proper dish right there buddy) Everything else tasted good but however again, overpriced for a small portion really. I also overheard that MSG was used in their dishes while the staffs were speaking amongst themselves. Boss came to speak to us to get our feedback on the food, told him our honest opinion but he didn’t seem to appreciate it at all. (Don’t ask if you’re not ready to accept criticism?!) Will not be returning.
Service- 8/10Herbal Chicken Soup- 8/10, very happy to finally see little pots of Chinese Herbal Soup in Perth! Hokkien Noodles: 5/10, good but very average. Not enough pork lard and they were not crispy. A little disappointed with this as even my 10yo son reckons I make better Hokkien Noodles than this place Curry Laksa: 9/10 , normally would need extra sambal to kick it up a notch.. but this was so tasty on its own! Very happy with this.. Portions are good and it didn’t take long for the food to arrive. Will definitely be back! with Marie
