We’ve always loved Meekin & happily we had the usual great experience last Friday night, excellent Thai food, beautifully presented & helpful staff.
So disappointed… we have been going to Mee Kin for years & absolutely love it, but our most recent experience was the worst dining experience we’ve had in years – the main meal took almost an hour & a half to arrive & when it did, the Massaman Beef was absolutely tasteless &. had sweet potato chunks in it that were raw. The waitress apologised & told us they have a new owner & a new chef (?) but either way, it was just awful. Not sure we’ll risk going there again… sad.
Well, I was already planning on giving this place a 3, based on how long it took the food to come out. HOWEVER, it is Tuesday and there was 12 of us. The spring rolls were fantastic , but the reason I give them a 5, is for the duck red curry. This was the single greatest curry dish I’ve ever had in a restaurant. My only regret is now I’ll have to drive 25 minutes to get the best red curry every week!
Tasty morsels however small portions per price. I haven’t dined in but recently had the disappointment of calling for a takeaway only to be told the kitchen had closed. Don’t state on your menu that last orders is 9 pm if you’re not going to remain open, it’s simply lying and not conducive to repeat business.
This place used to be galangal restaurant and it was absolutely fantastic! Have to say that the roast duck red curry is too yummy to be missed! The chicken with basil stir fry is also nice. The taste of the food at Meekin now has not changed much but it’s less explosive and a little bit more expensive compared to the old restaurant. Been to Thailand many times I’ve expected it to be a little spicier than what it is now. Perhaps I should be a bit clearer when ordering next time, I guess it’s the Asian in me that’s talking since I love the authentic Thai spicy food.
Arguably the best Thai food I’ve had in Perth. Took my family here and they were all extremely pleased with the food and service. Will definitely return.
I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious every time and the service is great. I have been a few times and have taken friends who have also really enjoyed it. Best Thai place I’ve found in Perth.
