First up, the staff were very welcoming and polite upon arrival and continued to do their best throughout the night. The ambience is pretty ordinary but on most occasions you can forgive or overlook this if the food is worthwhile (Buen 151 on Chapman Road Bentley is a case in point). I think the front of house staff are on a ‘hiding to nothing’ given the poor management of orders shown by the kitchen staff. We were a party of seven dinning on a Friday night. The timing and pace of the arrival of food was abysmal. I was the last to receive my main meal, about 40 minutes after the first on our table received theirs. The mains arrived one dish at a time, slowly, ever so slowly. And these were not complicated dishes! The quality of the food was acceptable (not outstanding) but dear me, it is over-priced. And so are the drinks – $15 for 500ml of very ordinary Japanese beer. Coupled with the poor management of our orders (and a half-baked BYO policy – wine only), I can’t find a good reason to go back again. I’m not quite sure how this very mediocre, over-priced Japanese restaurant has stayed open for so long given the wonderful Japanese dinning options in Perth (our family eats a lot of Japanese food). Perhaps the location on the ever-thumping, pumping Albany Highway caf strip is the best thing they have going. Sorry Senoji, it’s Buen 151 for the quick fix and then Kuza and Nobu for the higher-end stuff.
Went to Senoji last night, I called up prior and booked a table for 2 and ordered 2 okinominyakis to the lady on the phone. I got a call back 5min later saying that 2 okinominyakis were quite large and chef recommends 1 to share between 2 people, I said we will be sure to eat both and more of the menu and take home what we cant eat and she said no worries that would be fine. Got to the restaurant with this order being a surprise to my partner and the lady waiter came over and started a conversation with me giggling saying she doesnt know how to say this but the chef will not let you have the 2 okinominyakis as he wants you to try different things on the menu. I assured her we would but I would like my order which Ive already made in advance to come out. Meanwhile my partner is so confused that I had to explain what was going on. The lady goes back to the kitchen and comes back out and said no he will only cook 1 okinominyaki, I said to her it was rude to refuse someone their meal after having to pre order as stated on there website. We ordered 4 other dishes and pork Goza being one which tasted just like the packet ones I purchase in the shops so very disappointed.I will not be back here again to eat and I will not recommend it to anyone else for that matter.
The worst Japanese restaurant I ever tried. The crumbed pork fillet was dry and chewy. Rice was barely warm and the prawn tempura was soggy, prawn spoiled! Will never ever go back again.
Great authenticity. Perfect eating experience. The food is second to none. We always have a great time when eating food Yuki has prepared. A++++
We were a table of 5 requesting share plates for mains. We got one dish every so often and kept waiting for our rice to come out. We ended up so hungry picking at the dishes that we ended up having plain rice on its own. All I can say about the food was it arrived (eventually). The menu was overpriced for the quality of service, ambience and quality of food. The wait staff were polite but lacked training as they didn’t know how to prioritise and left customers waiting to order, eat and pay. Sorry Senoji but tonight’s service didn’t make our night enjoyable whatsoever. I believe the other tables around us would have felt the same.
Really delicious food and friendly staff. However, a little bit pricey for what we got. Perhaps some complimentary edame would be good so we could enjoy the beer (and possibly order more food).
Terrible foods quality, expensive prices. Will not com back at all. Waste of money. Noodle was like $18 but only 1 prawn.. Regretted! Service wasn’t good too
