Laurance is the go-to winery for our family, with good wines, beautiful scenery and great food. Would thoroughly recommend this place for a child friendly winery dining experience. The most recent time I was here with my aunt and 3 year old cousin from overseas and my grandparents. We ordered three mains (chicken, beef short ribs, fish) and three entrees (bread with dukkah, octopus and chorizo) and two drinks. EVERYTHING tasted good. Great mix of flavours, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. The serving sizes aren’t big and we probably could have ordered one more thing but we were comfortable after the meal. With the entertainment card discount, the meal only came to about $120 which was amazing value. We all enjoyed the meal. The only downfall was probably the slow service but that might have been because we were sitting outside on a picnic table on the outskirts of the dining area.
We ordered the share platter for two. You get bread and then choose four dishes from the small share plates menu. We chose the marinated Fremantle octopus, the beef croquettes with dipping sauce, the Margaret River chorizo with pickled onion and the pork belly with grape and nectarine. Each dish was delicious, as was the bread. We paired this with the tasting paddle of six wines. It was an enjoyable meal and a good way to end a weekend down south before the drive back up.
This use to be our regular family winery for our down south holidays. The platters had a great variety of food for a great value for all to share. But this season they have moved away from the platters and gone to a tapas menu. This menu is now expensive for what you get. We ordered 5 dishes for 4 adults and were astounded at the serving sizes in comparison to the costs. It is now time to start exploring other wineries in the region.
Great food prepared with care. Kids love going here as food is proper food just in a smaller still generous size for growing kids. Surrounds are so picturesque and kids love having a walk and play while waiting for food our those who are wine tasting.
