Stopped here for a spot of lunch after exploring New Norris, what a disappointment the menu has nothing exciting on it, so much so we ordered a steak sandwich to share. The steak sandwich was untoasted, very bready, with minute thin steak and was very dry it was so bad we didn’t finish it. The highlight was the Abbots Ale on tap.
The hotel building itself is beautiful, although a little worn. The food is probably somewhere around average for what could be considered a typical country pub, which seems like a missed opportunity to draw on the tourists visiting New Norcia and the Spanish heritage of the town. The Abby Ale is worth trying, although this is not produced in the town itself, but elsewhere in the Swan valley. The bruschetta was the best dish of those we ordered. The service was attentive.
Under new management, there is now table service, homemade cakes and puddings and new regular specials. The food is good, big portions and very tasty. Great local wines, ports and beer.Definitely worth a visit!
A nice find today as hadn’t been up to NN before . The hotel is quite a building very ornate , huge sweeping staircase , high ceilings and a pianist playing in the lobby ! Ordered from the bar, girls were friendly and efficient as there was quite a queue ! Meals came out fast and were good value and tasty . Bruschetta and Tandoori Chicken Toastie were yum .Def worth a visit if your up that end
Gorgeous old school pub in the picturesque New Norcia. Menu is very pub standard, but a few specials too! We visited for lunch today after exploring the monastery and beautiful art gallery and museum. E went for the Vegetarian Fried Rice and I went with the Soup of the Day (sweet potato and pumpkin) with Tomato Bruschetta, because I just had to try the bread the town is known for! The food was beautifully cooked, and tasted very rustic and homely. The soup was soul warming and I loved the sweetness. The bruschetta was divine – the garlic butter was soooo good and everything was so fresh! Such a lovely spot – Don’t forget to try a glass of local wine! So good!
