We visit Margs a lot and this is my fave brewery. It has a lively atmosphere, lots of seating and a cool bar. It is well equipped for kids although a few more games/activities for older children would be good addition. The kitchen is separate which makes for efficient food service – we i my waited 5 mins for our snacks. Loved the live music outside. Will most definitely be back to check out the slip n slide.
Atmosphere was amazing, food looked tasty but was placebo effect we had ordered the burgers from what other patrons ordered but only to be disappointed with flavourless meat
When we first visited the Beer Farm just after it opened in this old dairy, and we were delighted. I had the best fish burger of my life, plus the range of beers was brilliant. We were keen to come back for a second try but this time, last week, it was quite disappointing. We came as a family group; some 12 people along with young kids who were attracted to the very average playground set-up, fully exposed to the sun. It was hot and we spent most of our time trying to keep the kids away from this facility. Message: If you are going to establish a kids playground either do it well with appropriate cover with sun screens OR just don’t have a playground. The beers were the same. Excellent. Try the Indian Pale Ale.As for the food, what a disappointment. The fish burgers were gone; probably too expensive to produce in these tough economic times, but the other options from the menu were overcooked, bland and expensive. Not one of our family members enjoyed their meal. The Beer Farm is a great concept, The young staff are friendly and keen to please so if you are a bunch of young blokes looking for a ‘beer afternoon’, this is the place. But in the era of social media you cannot get away with serving poor quality food for high prices as people will walk away; like we have done.I really hope they will address these issues as they deserve to succeed and become one of the best places to visit in this beautiful region.
Great busy humm at the beer farm. Family friendly and casual relaxed atmosphere. Beers are pretty bang on, but that is where it ends. The food, is an afterthought. All food that was purchased was underwhelming and very average to day the least. Spicy fritters embarrassing, way too light and super crispy, not how a fritter should be made, one fritter was so over cooked that it was the same colour on the inside as it was on the outside, the ranch sauce was good. The rainbow salad underwhelming with far too many peppercorns, with not much dressing, not the harmonious dish it should have been. Veggie burgers bland and dry, the brisket was dry and powdery, just horrible, (others on the table had a different opinion, so it could just be inconsistent servings) that gave a weird mouthfeel, dry and powdery. The menu read well and was so looking forward to the food, unfortunately very disappointed, the kitchen staff need to regroup and refocus to deliver mouth watering and bang on food. Hope things change, it’s a great to relax and have a beers.
Funky, friendly indoor and outdoor bar venue in a very rustic knockabout style. Loads of seating, the food service super quick. So many staff working hard, but happy, to keep the place moving. It looked like a majority of the guests when we were there were locals. And I can see why. Good value and tasty unpretentious food. The jalapeño and cheese fritters were a great contrast of crisp crunchy exterior and unctuous sloppy inside. Scrummy and well seasoned. For my personal taste I’d have liked a bit more of a chilli bite but these were great for the masses. the seafood taco was lovely and fresh and great value. The loaded chips were yummy but sadly had been over salted. When I politely informed the staff, their reaction was spot on: a prompt and unconditional apology plus a direct admission “that was me, sorry” from the server in question; and an immediate offer of a replacement. Well done!! The $10 paddle beer tasters was great value too. Overall hard to fault and scores a 5 from me despite the extra salt.
