We got takeaway from Amore. Our order was taken by (I’m assuming) the owner who was your typical friendly Italian man – no faults on the service. We ordered the puttanesca and the gnocchi. Both were delicious, but the puttanesca sauce was a little too oily (hardly stopped me enjoying it, though!). The tiramisu for dessert was probably the best tiramisu I’ve had. Don’t know what it’s like to dine in but takeaway was fab!
Very noisy and cramped restaurant with average food. The lasagna looked good and the gnocchi sauce was simple but nothing special. If you want hustle and bustle then this is the place for you. Worth a visit.
Have been a number of times in the past and thought it was good value however, a recent visit was very disappointing with highly priced pasta specials compared to the normal menu and to top it off, an added charge of $2 for a spoon of Parmesan cheese which was not mentioned yet added to the bill – its not the charge, just the way its conveniently added to what was already an expensive pasta special. Also, the chilli mussels were so salty, the broth which I look forward to after eating the mussels, could not be enjoyed at all.
A wonderful and authentic Italian dining experience. I had the linguine allo scoglio and my wife had the spatchcock alla ciccio. Both dishes were delicious. The seafood in my linguine was fresh and the cherry tomatoes were bursting with sweetness and flavour. We finished off our meal with a decadent tiramisu. Great lively atmosphere and the owner and staff really make you feel welcome. You cant help leaving this place feeling happy! Highly recommended!
I have been looking forward to coming here for a long time, especially after hearing so many good things about it. A group of 12 of us finally had the opportunity for a catch up and a wine and dine night there recently. Unfortunately it must of been an off night. I ordered the Porchetta only to be told that they had already ran out of Porchetta and Seafood. It was only 7.30pm and a Saturday night to boot. I opted for the Tagliata(sliced steak). It was just that, except it was cold! Two orders were forgotten and were brought out much later than the rest of us. Probably a bonus for them as they were the hottest 2 dishes of the night. We ordered dessert only to be told once again that there was only 2 Tiramisu’s left, we ordered 3. Funnily enough, 3 were brought out but 2 of them looked suspiciously smaller than the other one. Overall the food was below average, the service lacked and the venue is very noisy. A bit on the pricey side as well, wouldn’t have minded if it met expectations. Finishing off on a good note, it’s Byo which is a bonus…
I am loathed to write this review because I know I will only be making it harder for me to get a table. This place is simply fantastic !! The food is real Italian and I mean REAL. The guys that own it love what they do and it shows in every delicious mouthful. My god what a great place. Don’t go expecting luxurious surrounds – its tiny (so it’s hard to get a table), its basic, it’s BYO, no fuss, no nonsense – they just deliver the goods. These guys let the food do all the talking. Lads, just keep doing what you are doing – don’t change a thing. Bravo
A hidden gem and fabulous little local. This tiny restaurant is perfect for those spontaneous, can’t be bothered to cook weekday meal or a nice Friday night treat. The staff are so close to the diners that there is a shared exchange of passion for their food and the dining experience. Good value for money and a continuously changing menu means we can go back again and again! Which is just as well because I do get sick of cooking!
