(The Mantle Harvester)Don Tapas space under the name The Mantle Harvester is now is serving a farm-to-table concept brunch. Its a rustic warehouse with evidence of food growing and nice wood burner adding rustic charm. I was one of only two dinning early on Saturday morning. Service is at the table and I got to choose where to sit; the friendly waitress brought me the menu and took my coffee order. I went with the long Mac topped up, and if it would have been after 10am I could have ordered my Bloody Mary, but alas I was too early (so the early bird doesnt always get the worm!). For brekkie I went with the jerk-fried chicken waffles with in-house made honey stored in whiskey barrel. Coffee was excellent and strong. Food didnt take long to come out and the waffles were light and the chicken was nice and crispy. Loved the honey, and I couldnt get enough of it, so was given more of it. Such a nice flavour to it those barrels certainly impart their magic! Staff were friendly and the menu warrants another look in a bit later this time to try their brekkie cocktails.
Have been here on 2 occasions, once with my husband and we ordered the feed me menu for $55 and absolutely loved it, great flavours and the food was filling….The second time I was with a group of 5 adults and 3 kids and i raved about how great this place was but unfortunately this time it was a bad experience. We ordered off the menu, the adults would order separately but often the same dishes, and they would put both our meals on one plate and the portion sizes would be way less than the $55 feed me meals! Which was disappointing… and the waitress had a bad attitude which added to the terrible experience… won’t go back in a heart beat… let’s just say we had to stop at McDonald’s on the way home!
I wanted to like this place but I didn’t. Three of us came for dinner and chose for Don to feed us ($55). The stand out dish was the quinoa salad! So yum. The meat dishes were dry and I didn’t even finish the lamb because it was so tough. The other dishes were average. The service on the other hand was good. And I liked the venue. Probably would of had a better time if we selected items off the menu ourselves and it would have been cheaper. I agree with Pennae that it was very up and down!
Best cooked meat I’ve had in agesThe kangaroo dish is a must have! Really cool vibe and great staff, super attentive and helpful! Definitely will be going back.
Excellent food and service, a very enjoyable night out. The chief’s selection was to die for. Couldn’t recommend Don Tapa highly enough and will definitely will be returning for another wonderful experience.
Fantastic food, friendly service and great atmosphere. Had an amazing time and will recommend to all my friends!Mojo pork and Freo octopus was incredible.Seriously good stuff!
Shared a variety of dishes with friends and I don’t really know what to make of it. The kangaroo was excellent but the other dishes didn’t really hit the mark with most being a bit overcooked/dry. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent – so up and down overall. They’re also on UberEats, which would make for some interesting takeaway!
