Had the buffet dinner that was tasty and good value for money. There was a wide selection to choose from. Really good service and I recommend to anyone who visits Rotto next time!
We went there last night for tea, it was amazing! From starters to desert! The waitress was lovely and gave good advise.. I had the fish of the day- cooked perfect and the sauce was outstanding.. We also had the slow cooked lamb with currents, something we usually wouldn’t cook ourselves. The plate was licked clean A+Deserts were also outstanding! Can’t wait to go back!
Recommend sitting by the fire with a glass of red and a Riva cheese platter or pizza- a perfect evening. Loved it! Such accommodating staff.
Booked a table for 7 people at Riva Restaurant on Tuesday January 20th at 6.45pm. The restaurant claimed to be unable to meet my initial request for a table at 6.30pm due to the numbers of guests already booked to arrive at that time. We duly arrived at 6.45pm and I was slightly surprised to find only two tables occupied with two people at each. A friendly and polite French waiter greeted us and proceeded to place the formerly white linen napkins on our laps. I was appalled to see that the napkins were soiled and crumpled. When I pointed this out, the waiter gave us clean napkins from the table next to ours then proceeded to refold the soiled napkins and replace them at the adjacent table. We placed our food and drink orders within 15 minutes of arrival and the drinks were served efficiently. However, we waited an hour for our entrees. I had selected chargrilled field mushroom with haloumi and asparagus. The haloumi was nicely done but the mushrooms were burnt and the asparagus was virtually raw. We then waited until 8.30pm (1 hour & 45 minutes after arrival) for our main courses only to find that two of the mains were not what we had ordered. We sent them back and waited more than 30 minutes for them to be replaced. It was beyond 9pm by then, my children were over tired and I was beyond being hungry. Up to this point, only six diners at other tables had been served with food so I cannot understand why the kitchen was unable to keep up with demand. The waiter was apologetic and did not charge for the mains for my husband and I. That was little consolation as our special family meal out was completely ruined. Given the premium price charged by this establishment, it is reasonable to expect much better than this. Our family has a holiday on Rottnest almost every year and we try to support all the dining outlets there. Unfortunately, every encounter with The Rottnest Lodge turns out to be like a visit to Fawlty Towers!
My partner & I stayed overnight here and were very impressed with the food at Riva. They obviously have some great chefs. Will stay again due to the restaurant.
Very over priced, bland food. The gnocchi was nice but the sauce it came with had no flavour. Breakfast was average the fruit tasted very watery. Staff are very friendly and helpful
False advertising. … This is one of those restaurants pretending to be something it’s not. Can’t even get its wine list right or stocked. We went for lunch and four of the bottles we ordered off the wine list weren’t even available. The Geordie Cafe is much better…at least you get what you expect.
