Apparently this place has been open for four years – we had no idea, its not somewhere you can drive past. Its located in Central Walk, just a short stroll halfway between Reid Prom and Boas Ave. We walked through the door into the bar area which was packed. Luckily we booked ahead as there are only a dozen tables in the dining area. There was ambience, so many places cant figure this out, but lights were dimmed and we werent sat like deer caught in the headlights. Tables were a mixture of materials as were the chairs – some metal, some wood, some material. It all seemed to work though. We shared tapas – soft shell crab with a wasabi mayonnaise and coconut prawns with a mango chutney. The crab came out as three halves. I asked the waitress if wed possibly been given aioli by mistake and she came back with an apology and a new mayonnaise. I have to say, it still tasted like aioli to me. The four prawns were massive. They do coconut prawns differently to other places Ive been; cooked in tempura batter THEN covered in desiccated coconut. While pleasant enough, Id be inclined to try something else next time. Mains were a different story altogether. We both ordered eye fillets and both were correctly cooked to medium rare. Beautiful meat; I picked the jus and my husband had a strong pepper sauce. We had the choice of two sides (there was a large selection to choose from) and I settled on field mushrooms and onion rings and my husband had beer battered chips and a cheese/bacon broccoli bake. So nice to have a varied selection of things you actually want to eat!I had two glasses of Margaret River Forester Chardonnay and my husband had an American Honey. Our bill came to $132 – no room for dessert. The menu has changed slightly from whats on their website.
