We had an excellent big breakfast today. The service was fantastic and the food very yummy with very big serving. We have breakfast quite a number of times in Swan Valley each year and plan to be back again!

We had lunch here today on a wine tour. I read some of the google reviews before we went, which were less than complimentary, so wasn’t too sure what to expect. Yes, there were buzzers on the counter, but we had a waitress come to our table to take our order and the meals were delivered to our table. If we’d been a table of 3, not sure if it would have been different, but we had table service today as part of a large group. Two of us had the burgers. It wasn’t anything to write home about, but it served its purpose. The parmigiana was a bit of a let down, I was told. We also had a sparkling wine, Belgian beer and a LLB. The bill came to $89.50.

We started with Liefmans Kriek on ice, a Belgian cherry beer that combines semi-sweet and pleasantly bitter flavours. This is a well-balanced refreshing beer that even non-beer drinkers will love. The long drive and hot day became a distant memoryNext came a chicken and Camembert pizza straight from the wood-fired pizza oven behind us. It had a soft yet crispy crust and tasty flavours. We also shared a bowl of Belgian frites, which were as hoped crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside.Lastly, we were persuaded to try the waffles but were pretty full so ordered one to share. So glad we did because they were up there with the best ones weve ever tried! It was a tall waffle with a no-too-sweet fluffy batter and crispy outside. This is rare with waffles, theyre usually too sweet or flat but this one was pro. The waffle was accompanied with homemade berry coulis and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, really good combo. The Abbey at Chesters has great scenery, friendly staff and a laidback atmosphere as well as good food and Belgian beer. Impressed, will return!

Very friendly and attentive staffs. Food and ambience was really good too. They have free beer and wine tasting too. Definitely coming back.
