Thursday lunch 1 staff at bar .other staff walking by not helping .i was told they had no RSA licence. People waiting at the door for a long time for table and the place was 20% full . Hope the staff culture doesnt end up like the brooks . Went back for Melbourne cup 2019 .they haven’t learnt poor food BIG queues
Went out for a casual dinner- a fun family/drinks with friends vibe to The Hen.Had the pesto bread with chorizo, olives and feta for starter- ahh seriously yum!!Mains- buttermilk chicken burger ( a few cheeky pickles with a zingy mayo make it extra delish) and chicken parmy. Both tasty- and well priced; the parmy was massive!!!! Only down fall parmy tomato sauce probs could do with a bit of vamping up- but the chicken was cooked to perfection. Good selection of local beers and wines- would recommend the hen for a tasty pub meal
if you like small serves at a high price order the classic pork belly, will disappoint.good atmosphere, service, location and music the food tastes ok too.
Dropped in on the off chance on a Saturday for lunch and glad I did. Good honest pub food on the menu. I had the beef burger and it was great. Ambience inside is nice (fyi toilets very clean with up-spec finishes). Outside garden area is great for the kids to run around on the grass. I will come back again. N
Pretty underwhelmed by our experience at the Henley Brook, the food was ok and the setting was really nice but the service was despicable! The person that greeted us was rude and unaccommodating to the baby that was with us. When we joined on another table we were barked at. Then when placing the order the staff member that served us was also quite rude! Very disappointing, we understand they were busy but there was no need for this service just because we didnt have a prior booking. I probably wouldnt go here again.
Went on a Saturday evening. Decor is great, good vibe and average food. Had the mushroom burger, not the best taste – sweet potato overpowers the mushroom. Portions are a little on the small side. Not the worst meal I have had. But don’t think I’ll be rushing back.
Being a relatively new joint the setting feels fresh and inviting, with a certain energy about it that probably owes as much to the ambience as it does to the friendly and uplifting service. It was fairly busy so we ended up being seated outside, which was quite pleasant — the modern jazz band playing laid back renditions of popular hits was a nice touch — however they need to get bigger shades as only half of our family escaped the direct sun.Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down. The menu sounded fantastic however the execution of the dishes failed to keep pace. The pork belly was overcooked and slightly unpleasant to eat; the fat not rendered properly and the skin lacked that satisfying texture that is a staple of this type of dish. The tasting plate was ok, with the terrine being the highlight, however the cheddar was unremarkable and tasted like it came from Coles.Would love to rate this place higher as I think they’re on to a good thing, which I’m sure they will given a bit more time.
