Ordered a Squid Chop Suey for dinner, and decided to eat in, rather than takeaway. Beware, the dining in prices are several dollars more expensive than the takeaway menu. While the service was good, I thought the Squid was pretty average. It lacked colour, and appeared washed out, the sauce with the vegetables was sort of slimy from the cornflour thickening. I hate canned mushrooms, and think this is a pretty option for this dish. The pale stalks of the pak choy didn’t add much colour either. More fresh greens, a little more flavour (without extra MSG), and a lighter sauce would have made this dish much nicer overall. Will possibly try a different dish another time, but I won’t be rushing back to do so.
Had high expectations for camellia after reading a lot of positive reviews, unfortunately it feel short of those expectations. We had the lemon chicken, honey prawns and Singapore noodles but felt that all dishes lacked flavour. To be fair the meat and prawns seemed to be fresh and good quality however as mentioned there really was a lack of flavour. I also thought it was a bit pricy at almost $60 for takeaway for 2.
