Fantastic. The restaurant was warm and welcoming, with nicely set tables. The food was top class, not one curry or starter could be faulted. All the curries came out in good time as well and the staff ensured we were ready for mains rather than bringing them out when it suited them. Further to this the staff were also extremely friendly and attentive throughout the night and helpful when explaining our voucher at the start of our night. Food was well priced as well. Definitely would recommend this place and will be going back again. More people should give it a go!
A friendly and cute local, with some great options I haven’t seen at other Nepalese places. We ordered a chicken biryani, a curry on the chef’s recommended dish that I can’t remember, a garlic naan and Jhol momos at the waitress’ recommendation. Although initially I was a bit worried when the waitress didn’t know what some of the dishes were, she was really helpful so this could be forgiven as it’s quite a long menu. All the dishes were fine, and I was really pleased to taste lots of fresh garlic on the naan when another local Nepalese up the road uses flakes. But the stand out dish was the Jhol momos. I’ve not tried this before and when I asked for a really authentic entrée, this was one of the suggestions. The dumplings were huge and plentiful, and came in a big bowl of lightly spicy soup which reminded me a bit of tom yum – it was so delicious and on its own might have filled me up.I wish I could give an extra half but Zomato doesn’t let you. The other dishes were OK but nothing amazing, however the lack of knowledge and repeated going back to ask basic questions (e.g. what is keema?) let it down a touch, and being put in the front fishbowl by ourselves to be stared at on a quiet week night when we could have sat in the lovely main areas was a bit awkward. The staff were really lovely and I think they offer 10% off takeaways. I like it better than the other two Nepalese joints nearby and definitely going back for Jhol momos!
Absolutely delicious, fresh and authentic Nepalese food. Do yourself a favour and visit this place – it’s where Gogo’s Curry House used to be. Himalayan Nepalese is my local (just down the road) and I love it, but Everest53 is really something special.
