Always tasty. We ordered the standard fish and chips – firm, thick fish which was well cooked and a generous portion. Chips were pretty well as good as you can get for frozen ones. We also had the squid rings which were cooked in a nice, light batter (similar batter for the fish). They were tender and hit the spot. A reliable meal for when youre feeling lazy.
Disappointing quality of food. We ordered grilled snapper which was bland in taste, chips which were soggy and flavorless (we had asked for chicken salt and vinegar, which didn’t happen) and the two salads – coleslaw and beetroot were average. Given how much we paid, we were really disappointed. Unfortunately we won’t return to Swish n Chips.
We have ordered from Swish ‘n’ Chips 3 times now, we were pretty impressed with our first and second orders, the food was fresh, tasty and cooked to perfection, the portions were a decent size too.Unfortunately it was third time unlucky last night, we ordered grilled snapper (pictured), beer battered snapper, crispy squid and a medium chips. What we got was half the sized portion of fish that we received in our previous order, the grilled snapper was well cooked but tasteless. The remainder of our order was lumped in altogether in one container with a measly wedge of lemon. On the positive, squid was cooked to perfection, chips were good and portion size was decent. We were disappointed at the inconsistency, stingy portion sizes of fish, the fact that most of the order (all except the grilled sbapper) had been thrown into a box and only one lemon wedge for 2 servings. We’ll definitely be looking for an alternative after that experience.
I have had the pleasure of eating at swish n chips every weekend for near on 25 years now. Week after week, year after year it delivers the same mouthwatering take out treats. Crunchy chips and crisp batter, Swish is a far cry from the greasy fish and chip shops that make you regret your weekend indulgence. Ill continue to visit this Mt Lawley institution for many years to come.
Inconsistent quality. Fish is always good but for some reason chips are often undercooked. They should be crispy on the outside soft and fluffy on the inside. They were not.
Wow. This was once the best fish and chip shop in Perth and was my go to place for 20 years . I gave it a miss when they moved into their pokey little shop in the arcade– no waiting area and difficult to park. Anyway I just gave it another go . The fish was soggy and wet ( seemed like it had been frozen ), the chips were the same , the serving was very small and overpriced compared to their opposition around the neighbourhood . Appears to be the same owners . Not sure what happened here but most probably high rents and they are cutting corners .. Won’t be going back
We have not had the opportunity recently however, returned for a take away on the weekend just gone. Specifically ordered our selection of fish (Pink Snapper) with minimum chips.Proceeded to nearby river park and enjoyed a beautifully cooked piece of fleshy fish exactly as ordered. The boys have been consistent since they opened and, the move down the back of the arcade does not seem to have affected their service or standard. We refuse to feed seagulls but had more than enough chips to do so!Nice to see they have prepared salads and add-ons available although we did not avail on this occasion. Fish is expensive now (everywhere) but, cheaper than trying to catch my own…
