Sunday dinner with the family, menacing bouncers look us up and down, uncomfortable greeting, should have turned around there.Husband had the chicken burger, very dry tasteless, salt and pepper squid average over salted, my son’s had fish tacos very basic.Service was average, nothing special to return to unfortunately.
Had a wonderful meal here last night – really impressive!! Last time I came to the Mullaloo was over a year ago to the Panorama restaurant, and our experience was so bad that I put up a bad review – so I thought I’d better balance it out with a rave! I’m happy to say that things have changed and definitely for the better. We sat on the bar side which had a lovely cosy feel to it. They had a wonderful acoustic musician playing, and it wasn’t too loud to talk over which is usually what happens in enclosed spaces. I had the crispy skinned barramundi which was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. A generous portion size, and it came with really tasted roast potatoes and fresh salad. My friends ordered pasta and pizza and were impressed by the flavors, servings and freshness. The service was also great and friendly, with the barstaff happy to switch off the heating for us when requested. I’m so pleased that this place has bounced back, and we now have a top notch place close to home to go to when we feel like a nice meal with a view
It’s a great place for a beer with a superb outlook, but sadly my meal was very sub par. The steak sandwich that was on the menu last year was full of flavour. It included bacon and cheese and really rocked. The current one is bacon and cheese free and the relish used is bland, making the sandwich pretty tasteless. It also seems a little smaller. On a good pub steak sando bacon and cheese are a must. Please bring back the previous incarnation of this dish and ditch the current one of you want my $25x Cheers
The staff and view here are great. The food is terrible in taste and over priced. How can you charge $15 for two spring roles. Actually robbery
I’ve been busting the MBH for years; mainly for the views and over the bar drinks, but that’s pretty much it. The menu doesn’t offer much food, it’s extremely over priced for what you get. I’ve attached a screen shot of a friend to express my point, and how poorly they, as a company, dealt with it I went to my friends birthday being held there a few months ago – the chicken tenders served to the party gave us all food poisoning. It’s usually a 40 minute wait for something as simple as pizza, however the bar staff are always friendly.
Fantastic location – service friendly BUT food is poor. A $24 tempura battered fish (Barra I think) was over cooked and dry to the extent of being inedible and the (not hand cut as stated on menu) chips under cooked. Salt and pepper squid was flavorless! This light lunch took just under an hour from order to arriving at the table. On a none food note…They have changed the decor to some mock beach come industrial theme which is not in keeping with the modern architecture. The same pub menu is served in the restaurant. The restaurant has a welcome sign effectively saying take a seat / table where you like and order at the bar. A far cry from the dining experience when they first reopened as the Mullaloo Beach Hotel. Will go for a drink there again but would rather eat fast food than this overpriced (for what it is) ineptly prepared fare.
Firstly a fantastic view, looks straight over beautiful Mullaloo beach. Sit up on the balcony, grab a drink and enjoy. The menu is not too bad, nothing to unusual, would be great to get some local seafood and fresh local fruits on the menu
