Decided to visit after reading the great reviews and it was just alright. Ordered the beef tongue which was tender, hubby had the twice cooked pork. Service is a bit slow. Overall experience was average. Might return to try other things on the menu.
Really disappointed. Tried the tender beef tongue steak and it was bland and chewy, not tender like the other reviews said. There was a lack of good seasoning, with a puddle of soy sauce at the side and the beef tongue itself looked dry. Rice was lukewarm and had soy sauce at the bottom. The only good thing was the green pickles – they were the only item that was flavoursome about the dish although there was just 2 or 3 tiny pieces. Also quite pricey for the quality of food served. Beef tongue cost almost $19. I think the portions are too small for the price. Overall, I would not recommend.
Yummy and great value for money. We just turned up at 8.20pm on a Friday night after being told we couldn’t get a booking only to discover there were two free tables. (Very popular no-frills kind of place with prompt service ). Delicious grilled spicy pork and squid and Karaage Prawns, freshly made California rolls and a very generous serving of Teriyaki Beef. Delish!!! (Total bill for two: $48!)
The Fried Oyster and Teriyaki Fish were nice, fish has a buttery taste to it. Scallops wrapped in Salmon were beautifully cooked- just a caution for those who can’t quite take wasabi, this is a wasabi-rich dish. Chirashi Bowl and Adegashi Tofu were a bit of a let-down. Chirashi bowl had good sashimi but, the rice was just cold, clumpy and dry. Adegashi Tofu was firm and grainy, definitely not the best around. Wait time in between dishes was also quite long. Staff are friendly and nice, but the food isn’t as impressive as it used to be.
Simple and authentic, cheap and casual! Great experience every time, always fresh and delicious.. but have to agree with other comments it used to be better!
Yummy food:-) try the duck tongue ! Better book before you go as they are quite often fully packed! Very reasonably priced but the food is great !
I love Japanese food, be it fine dining or casual dining. From the great reviews, I thought I would give it a try butI was left very disappointed. For a suburban restaurant specialising in Japanese casual dining, I was underwhelmed. The food was not value for money, or even flavour for money. The teriyaki sauce was bland and watery. The salmon fillet did not have a crispy skin and wasn’t of high quality for $15 for one piece, it was not nice. Furthermore, if you are just ordering one or two dishes, don’t expect politeness or attentiveness.
