Came by on a Monday night and took advantage of the $10 pizzas. Very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very quiet but the pizzas were very tasty and a bargain at that price. Can even get half&half.
Went on a Wednesday and they had a ‘Beef and Bevy’ special. $20 for a 250g steak with chips and salad, and a middy or glass of wine. Not bad value and the steak was well seasoned. Also had the Oxford Cheeseburger with bacon and egg on a brioche bun. It was well made and tasted ok, but pretty average for $20. State of Origin was on, so considering how busy they were I was pretty impressed with the service and the time it took to get the food out (although the steak could have been a bit warmer). Wasn’t a big fan of the chips. They were ok.. but more a fan of shoe string.
Left mesmerized as to what the cattle eat to produce such a grisly and tough stake. Must have been some genetically diluted steer grazing on dried spinifex and salt bush that had avoided muster for 3 seasons, with its only conjugal partner being a matted geriatric camel. I wish I would have sharpened my teeth I just didnt know. All of this stems from the $20 steak and bevy dinner deal, a deal best left alone.Chef put some Kosher salt on the steaks for 48 hours that will tenderize themsomewhat.
Don’t mind this spot , it’s been around for ages and they’ve done a good job of the outside area which opens this space up a bit. Typical pub style menu, little bits of everything and prices that suggest it’s the real deal. Wednesday special of 250g steak and scooner for $20 was ok, Wok noodles was a fair bit but for $26 you’d expect something solid. Its a good spot for a catch up , never really been terribly let down by the food and always get what I more or less expect.
Very good food along with great service and a big area out the back for the kids. Really love going here for a few drinks with mates or for lunch/dinner during the week.
Lovely service and people. The food is consistently good and more importantly so are the drinks! Haven’t had a bad experience yet and don’t expect to soon .
what a great pub! If only it was SoR!!! I can’t fault this place in terms of pubness..Great, awesome staff, I wanted to order more drinks just for the pleasant experience! The prices were ok for Snobsville. The double cheese burger is enough to give the Left Bank a run for its hippy money and me a heart attack!!! In layman’s – really good, chips were pretty much perfect. The duck salad was terrible, but I like what they’re trying to do and taking it off the menu might be the best option – just a suggestion. Overall all presentation of this place makes me want to host a bangin party – love that the old has been kept with the new.
