Went there on the weekend and had the most amazing lunch. Everything from the entree to the desserts were beautifully done and simply delicious! The recommended wines paired beautifully with the meal and wait staff were lovely- will def return!
Ok , before I start, I remind you this is a highly rated fine dining restaurant. The dining area is really beautiful. On a sunny day, there are fewer places you’d rather be. I advertised The waiting staff professional, maybe a little aloof, but professional nonetheless.Myself and my partner decided on sharing several entree dishes. Oysters fresh , scallops fresh in a lovely dish, the abalone was perfectly cooked but ruined by an over powering mustard oil sauce that seriously tasted of Clive of India curry powder. The octopus dish was very tasty. The ricotta ‘gnocchi ‘ just 3 balls of ricotta dumplings with fennel salad, was ok but nothing like the dish that advertised. Don’t get me wrong, it was fresh and good ingredients used but for the money spent , it really has to be a lot better.
An absurd dining experience. Ridiculously overpriced and lacking imagination. The setting is the main attraction. However, the cuisine and service are like something out of another era, evoking the atmosphere of a guided tour or cruise ship for elderly people. Food is basic but played with and garnished with sauces. The big plate with the tiny main and overpriced separate side dishes is such a passe dining model. Move on and do something innovative and creative.
Jess says: Would absolutely go back! I recommend the Leeuwin degustation to almost anyone, assuming you have the time and the funds (although, I think it was very reasonably priced). It’s a fantastic date spot, but would even be great for a group of girlfriends to enjoy the afternoon. The service was exceptional and the food was divine. Leeuwin set the bar. Be warned future restaurants we review… this is our new standard.Ryan says: Although I’m generally a pizza or burger kind of guy, I do enjoy a culinary adventure from time to time. Leeuwin provided a great setting, surrounded by nature, and the place had a generally chill vibe – despite being a Sunday of a long weekend. The first thing I worry about with degustations is not feeling full afterwards, but with fifth course being a large meaty chunk of duck (also very tasty), I was pleasantly well fed by our departure. Overall, it’s definitely a special occasion kind of experience, as it is pricey, but worth the visit. Full review on ammonaloha.com 🙂
Very pretty venue to stop off for wine tasting and lunch. Had to wait a while as we hadn’t booked but eventually got a table out back. Nice view over the gardens but could’ve done with some better shade. The service was excellent. I had the crab and sweetcorn starter which was nice enough. The gnocchi was very nicely cooked. I also had the sparkling by the glass. The servings are small and can’t say it was the best food I’ve ever had. Nice enough for the venue. $67 for my two courses and the wine.
