The two stars is for an awesome view and great coffee and cake. The service however was abysmal. After being told to sit and you would come to take our order we waited and waited and it wasn’t until the waitress setting up a table next to us heard us saying we should just go in and order at the counter that she then went in and came back out to take our order. She was very curt and not friendly in any way. It was almost like we were disturbing her.The cafe is quite large and there would have been maybe 4 tables with people at them and a couple outside. It was only after we waited for ages for coffee and cake that we noticed the couple that came in after us got their coffees before we did. We finally got our coffees and all 5 us got through our hot drinks and cakes were still a no show. My husband went in to make sure they hadn’t forgotten us. Shortly after we got our cakes but no drinks to wash them down with. When I went in to pay I gave them feedback and was told by the same sour faced waitress that we had a lot of take away coffees. Really ?? That’s your excuse for lousy service ? How bout recognition of the fact and an apology ? You’re in the hospitality business, if you want people to come back .. No.1 you have to be friendly. No.2 accept feedback when given and maybe stop and think why it was given and if you can improve. I’m not just paying you for goods .. I’m paying for service as well. One without the other makes for an unpleasant experience.
Garrison is right next door to the ANZAC centre. Loved the decor when we walked in. Great views of the water. Professional staff that gave good service. We only had coffee and an ANZAC biscuit but the menus looked really good.
My parents were visiting the war memorial. They had beef cheeks, gourmet sausages and crepes. They enjoyed the slow paced service and the homey atmosphere. They went for the ANZAC tour after. As seniors in their 80s they weren’t rushed and had a good meal in front of great views of the bay.
The perfect respite after a rather morose day in Albury at the Whaling Museum and the National Anzac Centre. Garrisons is just across the road from the Anzac Centre. They make the best lemon lime & bitters in WA. Apparently the brown ale was great. We scoffed down the cod & Asian veggie dumplings and the sardines on toast with tomato purée and herbs with a rocket salad. Very very good.
2stars for the setting. The service was terrible. Sat at the table for ages then went to bar thinking that was were to order drinks only to to told a waitress will come. It was a table of 8 & 1 meal & 1 drink was completely forgotten. Luckily the order was for different people. Would only go there for Coffee & view next time.
