I was sceptical about dining at Pearl River (given its not so appealing location), but was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Came for Sunday dinner & ordered:San choy bow (delicious), Salt and pepper chicken (tasty), Stir fry beef (very good), Squid tentacles (nice), Fried rice (good)Singapore noodles (least favourite dish) & kai lan veges. Food was very fresh, excellent quality & came out at a good pace. The place itself has a nice ambience (very spacious & it obviously gets packed as there were rows of chairs lined up for waiting patrons outside the restaurant). Service was a bit hit and miss but not to the point that it significantly affected our dining experience. Well worth a visit if your looking for good Chinese cuisine in the Morley area.
Walk in Sunday lunch, bit if a queue so 15 minute wait no problem. Place was packed and staff obviously under pressure and struggled to keep up, We asked for one dish SIX times before it turned up and ordered another drink which didn’t appear at all. Dim Sum was standard fare. Suggest going there when they are half full as if it is packed they try hard but don’t cope.
I was very impressed with the service here, however the food was inconsistent and I thought it was quite expensive. The staff were very fast, efficient and polite – this service is probably better than any other dim sum joint in Perth. But I was sad that the food was so inconsistent. The baked BBQ pork buns in a Hong Kng style had a good pastry but very bland and sugary, light coloured sauce with the pork. The har gau were lovely, the dumplings a good large size and nicely cooked. The Xiao Long Bao were also good. The coriander prawn was undercooked however, whereas the siu mai was overcooked. The cheong fun didn’t have much soy but the sauce was nice, however the dish was cold and dry.The worst part was the price. I was a bit shocked to get the $60 bill for just these items. I go to dim sum regularly and would normally get at least another couple of dishes before getting this type of bill when I wasn’t even full yet. But with such lovely staff I didn’t mind as much, as good service can be hard to find at dim sum and it was clear they valued our business.
