Enjoyable evening. Friendly staff. Accommodating for intolerances and vwry understandable. Morrocan chicken was very succulent. Steak cooked well. Ribs were great. Beef cheeks were a little bit of a let down as they were served with a burnt jus. Chicken schinztels were quite dry.
Spent a night in Northam before hot air ballooning and decided to try the Duke, it’s a laid back pub come hotel with a beer garden with fire pits and big screens. We dined at 7 on Friday menu at times was a little pricey but thought why not we ordered potato and leek soup and pork belly to start both were delicious even though the salad on pork belly was clearly mixed leaves from a bag but we thought wow this is great for a country pub very tasty, fresh and rustic that’s where it stopped our mains arrived and it was like they came from two seperate kitchens the love and flavour that were in the entrees were not in the mains I wouldn’t even feed these to an animal. The Roast of the day which was roast beef was disgusting the gravy was glugy, meat appeared to be days old and all fat, the roast pumpkin and potato looked like they were made several days ago they were stale and cold and so dark it was hard to tell them apart, the veggies were soggy Asian vegetables that didn’t match the plate the dish was disgusting, I ordered the chicken schnitzel which wasn’t any better another handful of leafy packet salad mix with some black aged leaves, French fries which were cold, stale and rock hard and deep fried pre packed schnitzel which was rock solid and crunchy due to being extremely over cooked the mushroom gravy was chunky and gluggy with an awful taste we literally took one look one bite and walked out such a disappointment given the entrees were amazing.
Pleasantly surprised at our lovely dinner at Dukes Inn last night. Myself and colleague were recommended by two separate people to give this place a go, and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely setup (alfresco area is clean and modern), the customer service was fantastic and our meals (both had Mexican chicken parmi’s) were the highlight of our week long trip. Great work, and if I’m ever around Northam again I’ll be back! Thanks for a great night.
