Bad service and pricey but in terms of taste this is a gem! I walked pass by this store plenty time but eventually decided to give it a shot and man oh man their doner kebab with satay and sweet chilli sauce literally blew my tastebud! Amazing, thick and juicy lamb & beef meat! Pricey because you paid $11 for a standard size kebab with meats, lettuce, onion, and tomato. $13 if you add egg and cheese. That’s it.Bad service because I said I want the doner kebab, full stop, not with egg or cheese. And only after I paid via paypass and waited for a while I realised that I was charged $13 instead of $11. So I asked $13 was with cheese and egg right? He said yes of course. I bought for takeaway and when I reached my table and I ate the kebab: there was no cheese! No cheese!! Nevertheless, despite that, I have to admit that it is one hell of a tasty kebab. So here’s the breakdown of my rating 4 for tastiness, minus 0.5 for bad service and taking my $2, minus 0.5 for value for money.
Chips were crispy hot and salty, which is exactly what you want. The kebab was large and generous, however, the meat was majority the crispier slightly drier bits and not the plump juicy pieces of chicken. I got garlic sauce and I felt like there was no garlic taste at all. It tasted like mint sauce and it overpowered the kebab. The staff are really upbeat which is nice to see!
As Per usual, one of the best lunchtime kebabs you can get in the CBD. Highly rated and consistently delicious. What makes these guys better than the rest is their bread.
Kebabs are cool n all but what you need in your life is a MEAT BOX. Big box of fresh crispy chips, melted grated cheese, shaved doner meat and then your choice of 2 sauces. I recommend satay and garlic. Perfect way to end any big night out. I get a lot of people asking me what I’m holding as I walk past Capitol/Amps. Tastes as good as it looks when you have your beer goggles on.
On mildly sunny Perth day, you could do worse than grab a kebab and sit at one of the outdoor tables under the plane trees on Murray Street – might not quite be Paris but pleasant enough for a quick and cheap lunch. The doner kebab was tasty, nicely toasted bread, friendly service and reasonable prices.
I’ve tried their fish and chips for a couple of times during my stay in Perth. Tasted good. The people who run the restaurant are very nice. And their baklava is so good, better than the others.
I eat lunch regularly at City Kebabs. It is a family run business and they are all lovely people. Really great kebabs, freshly made. The baklava is so yummy!
