love this place! came on a sunday afternoon for a late lunch. as everyone has mentioned, there are a range of both udon as well as rice options that you choose at the start of the self-service line. options range from about $4.50 for the rice bowls to just under $10 for the large-sized udon bowls (that come in both warm and cold types), which is sooo reasonable. we got the beef curry and original udon. beef curry was the star for me – curry and beef were both soooo ridiculously tasty! soup for the original udon was also great. we also picked 4 sides that range between about $1.50 up to $3. there is free green tea and water available, as well as table condiments. service was typically japanese – polite and efficient! cant wait to come back to try their other options!
Cheap and economic lunch. Half price udon. But the fried foods are cold. It is not as nice. Quite a lot of people queuing to order. It is like a fast food service. Can try if you want something cheap and fast.
THE place for udon… been several times and the quality of the udon and flavour of the broths is incredible! My faves so far are the japanese curry udon and the spicy pork mince udon….They also have lots of tasty self-serve side goodies….the fried onion for the win!Staff are super sweet too.Just tried secret menu item zero…LORDY it’s amaaazing….. Beautifully chilled and dressed udon with tempura chicken, special tartare, seeded mustard and salad. Mouthy melty goodness
Really worth the money. Cheap but, come in large portion. The taste also represent the true japanese udon not just ordinary stuff in town. I believe it really authentic because the cooker is a japanese that really know how to make a good udon. The broth feel fresh and decent. Will come back for sure. And one last thing. They side dish such as the tempuras must be tried as well
A Delicious Udon place hidden in a small alley of Murray Street.Blink and you will miss this place. The price is really affordable for a generous portion of Udon (about 10-11 dollar)The broth taste amazing. The only thing I was disappointing at was the tempuras that both were not crispy anymore.
Ive been here twice now and absolutely love how this concept has made it to Perth. I love udon so naturally, liking this place is a given. Menu items are very simple but the serving sizes, service and quality of the food is amazing for the small price you pay – super good value and sooooo satisfying.
Nice little udon place tucked away in a little alley close to Miss Mauds, Pizza Hut and RPH. I walked by the alley a few times before spotting it. Came at 11.45 on a weekday, it got pretty packed after 12 and there was a long line waiting for seats so best get here a bit early. We got a signature udon and spicy pork udon (both large), and helped ourselves to sides of veggie tempura, squid tempura and chicken karaage ($2.80 each). The signature udon came with a beautifully cooked slow egg, bonito flakes, spring onion, seaweed and one of those spongy fried tofu puffs that I love so much. Broth was predominantly kombu/dashi, a bit bland if I must say but then I love my tonkotsu and ramen. Udon noodles slippery and well cooked. The spicy udon had another slow egg, sprouts, chilli and spicy pork mince. Yum yum. Much better. Sadly all the fried food was cold and therefore unpleasant. Oily and cold fried food isnt good. The karaage was tasty and well seasoned, the veggie tempura was humongous but mostly onion but with some carrot mixed in (blooming onion much?), and the squid slightly chewy. Perhaps our coming early to get a seat did have a downside as these were not fresh. Ah well. Beautiful free green tea and water is available, and we did not feel rushed or pressured to leave. And we left pretty full. Worth a try if you like udon. Maybe give the fried things a miss.
