For such a well renowned place the customer service is horrific and the till girls don’t know how to do their job properly and end up billing people extra by accident. When confronted she was not in the slightest apologetic. The sister shop is so much better.
Have not seen a place like this since I left the UK many moons ago now. What a hive of history this classic retailer projects. Boxes brimming with spices, nuts & seeds, shelf products which I thought went out of production years ago which bought back many intricate memories for me. Those snowballs & jaffa cakes, fig rolls & treacle toffee. (bonfire night resurrected) Oh, & they also have a take away coffee window for thirsty browsers like myself- good thinking! Thanks for the trip down memory lane loved it
My grandma used to shop here, then my parents, now me. Lots of quality ingredients for when you’re creating at home. tbh you can got a lot of the ingredients elsewhere (and sometimes cheaper) but its very convenient to get all in the one place. I’ll agree with other negative comments about the staff, particularly lack of product knowledge. The food on offer (deli, cakes, etc) is awesome.
1.0 star rating 28/7/2015I committed a crime in this franchise today, at the Kakula sisters. There was a ‘Try me!’ sign near some tempting dates. ..so I tried one…After eating the date I was left with a messy, sticky date seed in my hand. Glancing around I found no bins – so I asked the grumpy woman behind the counter for somewhere to dump the seed. She shrugged, advised me to throw the kernel outside on the street. 5 or 6 customers were silently witnessing this little enactment of schoolyard shaming! I did it- I committed the crime and threw the seed. It rolled a little and bounced to the centre of the path, littering Fremantle with the debris of the Kakula business. I commented to the woman ‘This is yukky. You should have a bin.’ She ignored me completely, blanked me out. I take a compassionate view: perhaps she is unhappy with her lot or has Asperger’s. However, it’s an expensive shop. The actual offence of littering the pavement was mine and mine alone, but perhaps the style of service was also a little questionable.
Great store huge range of great products and smells amazing..Magic !!
Huge range of food but sub-standard service. Great variety of all sorts for cooking! However, their staffs need to be more friendly, or at least more pro-active.
So rude!!. I went into Kakulas yesterday at 5:30pm. The door was open, so I rushed inside to grab a bottle of water before they shut. The two girls (French?) behind the counter we literally yelling at me, a man in the shop filling up his basket with stuff, and another woman who dared walk through the open door, that it was 5:31pm and time to close and we should all just get out. If this was my shop I would have sacked them on the spot. Terrible attitude, so incredibly rude. If they really wanted to stop people coming in they should have shut the door and put a CLOSED sign on it! The shop opening times are on a small sign in one of the windows. Not surprised none of us saw this. Not going back. The water was damned expensive as well.
