Good food. Service is bad. Twice now we have been overcharged for our food. When asking what dishes are vegan, staff do not seem to care if we are told the truth or not.
We 12 people had our dinner at Lotus Vegetarian restaurant on last Saturday. we ordered banquet menu. Here is our opinion and experience about the food and other hospitality about this restaurant:* The amount of food they serve is good for 4 to 5 people. But they charged full amount for 12 people. Quantity of food was so little that we all were hungry after having our diner here.* Chinese Tea they served didn’t have tea in it – only hot water. We mentioned it 2/3 times during our dinner.*Most food were made of soybean/tofu – it was difficult to find any real vegetables (except a few pieces of cucumber).*Rice was extremely soggy and poor quality.*This vegetarian restaurant served food as fish, prawn, lamb, chicken all are made of same ingredients soybean/tofu and sweet chili sauce. Therefore all the items seems having same taste.*At the end we had fruit platter in the menu that ended up with a few whole oranges on a plate (at least one of those oranges was rotten).Other hospitality was not at all appreciative.
Visited with a UK widely travelled colleague – spacious, simple decor caf at the western end of James Street in Northbridge – nice people and quick service. Confusing use of ‘meat’ and ‘fish’ termsin what appears to be an all vegetarian/vegan menu took a little getting used to – but quickly reassured. We dined well and at $25 all up for two – with some leftoversit was very good fare and value! ‘Old-fashioned’ and hard working family-run restaurants/cafes on a windy early Spring evening are still excellent venues for ‘weary’ travellers and this is a good one.
Interesting times. Weird prawns made of tofu. I may never recover. It’s pretend seafood so you can’t charge real seafood prices yo!!!!!!!!!! littlegirlbigfood.blogspot.com
Nice night spoiled by overcharging. This was my first and only time at Lotus, out with a group of friends. The food was lovely, though the dishes brought out didn’t necessarily match what had been ordered. (As mentioned in other reviews, we ended up with lamb curry rather than the lamb dish actually ordered)When it came time to settle the bill, we were charged $2 a head for rice, even though one bowl only was provided for our entire group (2 round tables!) plus we were charged $1 a head for tap water! We wouldn’t go again.
Best mock and asian vego in Perth. What to order: assam fish (absolutely amazing), chicken kapitan and blachan spinach. (optional extras: satay sticks, rendang, portuguese fish)If you like mock meat/want a more diverse asian vego come here. We have been coming here for ages and it is absolutely delicious. Yes, the owner can be a bit tricky but if you want something just let her know clearly/don’t let her order for you (if you order as above she’ll have no issue, it’s almost any regulars’ favourites).
Best vegeterian food ever. One of the best in Perth
