We were having drinks next door at Bar 399 and got nibbly upon recommendation of munch delight we ordered a few things. Stuffed chicken had crispy skin and flavourful mix of stuffing, fresh prawn rolls were exactly that ‘fresh’ and the peanut sauce it came was a delicious strong flavour, it complemented the rolls nicely. I can’t say I’m a big fan of pho but theirs was had a tasty broth and a generous amount of fillings, the serving was massive! I’ve walked past this place so many times without venturing in, so happy I did! Pleasant surprise how good the food was and very affordable!
Had family lunch at Munch Delight on Sunday arvo. They weren’t busy at all, only few tables occupied. We ordered their lunch specials. Overall, we’re quite happy with all dishes. Beef Rendang was tender and tasty, Malaysian version. Singapore & Malay Mai Funs tasted about the same, just with slightly different ingredients. Sizzling Japanese Tofu with Salted Fish was good. Fried Kway Teow was so so. One dish that I didn’t fancy was BBQ Pork with Steamed Vegs as the sauce was very sweet. Service was good, no fuss. Might go back and try other dishes, not in hurry though.
one of our go-to places for malaysian food, some of our favourites are the malaysian curry chicken, laksa and fried noodles…they also have the best bbq pork noodles in town…in my opinion at least…better than the noodle forum ones…they’ve much more room now that they’ve moved into the new lot in northbridge…
This is the first time I’ve come across an Asian restaurant that charges $1 for a bowl of soup to go with hainanese chicken rice. And having the audacity to say other restaurants charge too! Name me one, I say. Hoi Bo, Tak Chee, Newton circle, ten ten, Cambridge international food court ALL provide free soup. It’s the norm at hawker centres in Singapore for goodness sake. And at the end of the day, quibbling over a bowl of plain soup has soured the group’s dining experience that it’s unlikely we’ll become repeat customers. I believe customer service 101 is desperately required. Now to the food, the hainanese chicken and rice was tasty. The beef rendang lacked the punch of lemongrass, tamarind, coconut, palm sugar and kaffir lime and ended up being a dry curry. The BBQ pork & wanton noodles was good. The fried bee hoon and chicken chilli with fried rice was cooked ala western style. Food taste: 1/2 Food presentation/quality: 1/1Ambience: 0.5/1 (a bit on the generous side)Service: 0/1 (my expectation was low to begin with)
We got takeaway last night. The lady that runs the show told us she is leaving and reopening in Northbridge on the 1st of November 2015. Apparently the landlord is a bit of a prick and has doubled her rent and taken her one and only car bay from them. They have been here for 10 years. It must have something to do with that new 38 storey building going up across the road. Anyway… the food was good, we ordered Honey Chilli King Prawns, steamed rice and a sweet corn soup. Very nice, on all counts. We are going back tonight to get some more stuff.
What a find. BBQ pork noodle with wonton(dry) was delicious, and my laksa too. Didn’t think much of this place but hubby and I were pleasantly surprised with the decent meal. Will be back soon!
Tried this place twice, including last time about two months ago. Won’t go back a third time. Food was very ordinary – little authenticity – and overpriced for the standard.
