Pub food up at the 3rd Floor Eatery in the carillon arcade. Order at the counter and collect at the counter, cutlery and water self service – very canteen style – which makes me wonder why they bother having so many waitstaff hanging around doing nothing. The food however does come out within 10mins as advertised, which is pretty good. Had the fish and chips, decent portion and cooked surprisingly well, crispy and not dry at all. Bit on r pricey side for pub grub though.
My Caesar should have been delicious – egg, anchovies, bacon, Parmesan. But it seemed a bit bland – the lettuce was awash in dressing, but the dressing lacked flavour. I couldn’t put my finger on what was missing, but it missed the mark. My husband liked his steak sandwich and the garlic bread was loaded with garlic and a generous serve for $8. The staff were on the ball and eagle-eyed. I don’t know if they normally have a number display for patrons to see their order come up, but today you had to rely on hearing the chef yell out your number. Prices were reasonable.
First time, not interested in going back. Food is eatable but did not excite me, pulled pork burger. For lunch time and a bit cloudy outside, it was. dark inside with the flooring, furniture and lighting. Smells of beer. Place needs a renovation but would be fine for a cheap meal. Great for tourists I guess. Not going back.
I’ve been to Sassella’s twice now. The first time I had the lamb salad (on the special board) and this time I went for the Vegetable Moussaka which came with chips and salad. My dining partner ordered the pork ribs. The ordering system is a little different, you order, pay and collect your meal at the kitchen, and then there’s table service for drinks. It seems to work well. In both visits my food was ready in the promised 10 minutes stated. The food could be described as pub grub and was tasty enough! The location is great, with indoor and outdoor seating options smack-bang in the middle of the city. They do reservations and there’s lots of space for larger tables. Prices are pretty good too, around $20 for a main.
Agree with one of the previous reviews – incredibly rude manager withthe look of a hawk and the only concern written across his face- I want your money. Not a customer orientated place. We will never go there again
Dull grey carpet covered the floor. Followed by boring brown furniture. Maybe I was expecting a little too much for a pub/ eatery in the middle of the CBD.You line up order your food and then wait for it.Ordered a chicken schnitzel which came with some fries $18.90. Lasagna came with side of salad $21.90.Pretty plain and expensive for plain and boring food, even by pub standard. The only good thing about this place is the alcohol.
The manager at Sassellas was incredibly rude when we came in for lunch a few days ago. We’ve been coming to Sassellas for years and we’ve loved it, but never again will we step foot in that place. What started of as a misunderstanding between a customer and the manager evolved into Paul raising his voice at us following his refusal to give us a refund. Highly advised to go elsewhere until he no longer works there. There are plenty of other restaurants and bars in the near vicinity.
