Street Eats Eatery promised to bring street food all over the world to Yagan Square and while the idea sounded great, the actual food was rather underwhelming and uninspiring.Who doesn’t love hot & spicy crispy chicken wings ? Except when it was so salty you could barely taste any hotness or spiciness, along with the watery yoghurt sauce that didn’t really make sense. Braised beef brisket tacos were average, with guacamole oxidised to a yellowy shade. Our rump steak was cooked medium rare as per order but that salsa criolla just wasn’t enough to lift the dish. It was basically meat and 5 vegs on the plate, plus a salty pile of polenta chips. Nice char marks on the steak though! When Yenny and Rachel found fried cricket and mealworm the most interesting things on the dinner table, you know the venue wasn’t worth coming back, even with the 40% dimmi discount. We did like the beertiramisu , but it wasn’t outstanding enough to warrant a return. Nothing we ordered was particularly bad, but most were average and boring . Service was excellent though, we really appreciated our waitress being so patient and friendly. instagram.com
Great atmosphere and $5 pints however the food and service is shocking we ordered waffle loaded fries and spicy chicken bites. Waffle fries were rock solid and the bacon and cheese was so over cooked you could literally knock it against the table, spicy chicken bites not spicy but very salty. We barely touched the food given it was awful and I advised the waitress I wasnt paying for it, no one asked why until i wen to pay for the drinks and then there were 5 people in kitchen looking at me and my partner they then all came out and this jumped up waitress advised me that this time I didnt have to pay the long of the short she then went on to tell me it was my palate and not the food we argued back and forth for a minute and then I walked out very intimidating having 5 staff arguing with you and not good customer service. I wanted to love this place as I say the atmosphere and pint specials were great but thats where it stops
Breaks my heart to leave a negative review because the service, fit out and location are great. The food was dismal. To start with the negatives, the tacos were the worst Ive ever had in my life. Dry, bland, tasteless. So sad. The potato balls were lifeless, saved by a stingy smear of delicious mint sauce. The jerk chicken was much too charred on the outside, the zucchini fritters were flat, oily and had a strong aftertaste. The lamb ribs were quite nice as was my iced milo. The best dish of the day, the waffle chips. Glad they got it right because everything else, including the masala chai were real let downs.
